CURRENT SECURITY MEASURES FOR FLIGHTS DEPARTING FROM THE UK
Passengers may carry a limited quantity of liquids, ie. gels, lotions, pastes, liquid cosmetics, foams and foodstuffs in their hand baggage when going through UK airport security checkpoints.
To avoid any unnecessary delays to your journey we would advise all passengers to continue to pack permitted liquid items in their checked in baggage. If you need to carry liquid items on board, please read the following requirements with care to ensure you arrive at the airport prepared.

Departing the UK
You may take on board liquid items of any size that are purchased after the security check in the Departure lounge (sometimes referred to as 'Airside') at any EU airport. Most duty free or similar purchases will be given to you in a special sealed bag. Do not open this bag until you have reached your final destination. You should also retain your proof of purchase throughout your journey. You will be required to show it at all transfer points. Please note restrictions apply to duty free purchases made on return journeys where passengers change flights at an EU airport and for passengers who are transiting overseas. These rules are explained in the next section. Passengers transiting in the EU, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland If your journey involves changing flights at any EU airport, special restrictions apply. You may only take liquid duty free purchases above 100ml through the security check point at your connecting airport if they have been purchased at another EU airport or in Iceland, Norway or Switzerland, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier or a carrier of Iceland, Norway or Switzerland. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this. Liquid purchases of more than 100ml bought from other airports or on board other airlines may only be carried as checked in baggage on the connecting flight. The member states of the European Union are: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom Passengers transiting in the EU from Singapore Passengers arriving from Singapore and transferring at an EU airport may take duty free liquids on-board connecting flights. Please note, current cabin baggage restrictions must be met. Australia Any Duty Free liquid, gels and aerosol purchases made at London Heathrow and Hong Kong airport, will not be allowed onboard your flight to Australia. Also, purchases made onboard your flight from London to Hong Kong, will not be allowed onboard your flight to Australia. However, Duty Free purchases are allowed onboardyour flight from Hong Kong to Australia. Passengers with international connections departing Sydney, can only purchase Duty Free liquids, gels and aerosols at Sydney airport departure lounge, after clearing security at the international transit point. Passengers with domestic connections departing Sydney can purchase Duty Free liquids, gels and aerosols either inflight the Hong Kong - Sydney flight or after landing at Sydney airport. Please note that purchases made at any other point will be confiscated in Hong Kong airport, at the secondary gate search. China Any liquids and gels purchased at overseas departure points should be contained in a tamper evident plastic bag and relevant receipts or proofs of purchase should be kept. They should be carried separately from other hand bags. Up to one litre of liquid may be carried on a domestic flight, but alcohol is not permitted. Hong Kong For passengers making international connections in Hong Kong, duty free liquids purchased at London Heathrow or on board the flight must be provided in special tamper evident bags clearly displaying proof of purchase. Japan Passengers ending their journey in Japan can carry duty free goods containing liquids. Passengers transiting through Japan on to international flights should not carry liquid duty free goods as these will not be allowed through the transit security point. South Africa Passengers ending their journey in Johannesburg or Cape Town can carry duty free goods containing liquids. Passengers transferring in Johannesburg or Cape Town to South African domestic services can also carry duty free goods containing liquids. Passengers transferring in Johannesburg or Cape Town to international services should not carry duty free goods containing liquids as these are not allowed through the transfer security point. United States Passengers ending their journey in the US may carry liquid duty free goods, provided they are purchased after security screening. Passengers with onward connections should pack liquid duty free goods in their checked baggage at the point of transit. Departing the US, if duty free purchases are made before security screening, they will be delivered to the boarding gate or pick up point in the secure area in a tamper evident sealed bag. Dubai Passengers transiting in Dubai will be allowed to take duty free liquid items in containers larger than 100ml onboard their flight if these items are placed in sealed tamper-evident bags, with the receipt clearly displayed in the sealed bag. The receipt must show the date of purchase, item(s) purchased and the name of the airport. Passengers will be asked to discard any liquids over 100ml that do not meet the above requirements. Kenya Passengers transiting in Nairobi will be allowed to take duty free liquid items in containers larger than 100ml onboard their flight if these items are placed in sealed tamper-evident bags, with the receipt clearly displayed in the sealed bag. The receipt must show the date of purchase, item(s) purchased and the name of the airport. Passengers will be asked to discard any liquids over 100ml that do not meet the above requirements. |
