London Heathrow Airport guide
Ready to fly?
Get your trip off to a flying start with Virgin Atlantic and our partner, Delta Air Lines, at London Heathrow Airport. From check in details to airport facilities for departures and onward travel information for arrivals, don't stress - we've got it covered.
All Virgin Atlantic and Delta flights depart from and arrive at Terminal 3.
When does my flight depart/arrive?
Unsure of your timings? It's best to be safe than sorry. Check your departure and arrival time with our handy Flight status tool.
What time should I arrive at the airport?
Leave those last-minute airport dashes to the big screen! We recommend that you arrive at least two hours before your flight is due to leave.
Do I need a visa?
Check out our Visa information pages for every country that we fly to.
Online check in
The best way to check in is online where you can pick your seat and print your boarding card. If you’re travelling with carry on baggage only, you can print off your own boarding pass and we’ll see you at the gate. Alternatively, you may use our automated self service kiosks at the airport. You'll find them in Zone A and they're open between 05.00 and 21.30.
Counter check in and bag drop
You’ll find our desks in Zone A of Terminal 3. We have plenty of counters available to keep the queues as short as possible. If you have an evening departure, beat the queues and check in when it's quietest between 15:00 and 17:00 - leaving you time to relax.
Our Clubhouses provide the perfect start to your trip with that little Virgin twist to make things extra special. Our Heathrow Clubhouse is open to all our Upper Class customers and Flying Club Gold members.

London Heathrow Drive Thru check in
If you've booked a chauffeur, we can take you to and from the airport at both ends of your flight. If not, you can still opt to use the drive thru check in.
Ask any biker. Two wheels beat four, every single time. Get to Heathrow fast and turn a few heads while you are at it.
If you like you can swap your ground transfer for a First Class Heathrow Express ticket - a great way to avoid the M25 in rush-hour.
Fly through check in
In the Upper Class Wing, you'll speed through our private security channel and be in the Clubhouse before you know it.
