Temporary lounge closure
Following the temporary closure of the Lagos lounge from 7 November 2016, we’re pleased to let you know that the lounge is expected to reopen from 12 January 2017 at present.
In the meantime, customers are welcome to continue using the Gabfol Lounge.
Multi-award winning airline
We’re excited to announce that AirHelp has just named us as the top British airline. Their role is to educate and empower travellers. When judging they looked at quality, punctuality and speed when dealing with compensation, and we were the only airline out of 78 that improved since last year. What’s more, we’ve also just been awarded Best Premium Economy Class at the prestigious Business Traveller Awards. Voted for by Business Traveller readers, beating Air New Zealand, British Airways and Qantas to win the top spot.
We’ve been making some exciting changes to our fleet, which will further improve your experience. One of the changes we’re making is the introduction of a new Upper Class Suite to our A330 fleet bringing the Upper Class cabins in line with the popular 787s.
We’ll be replacing the current suites with those found on the 787s. These will be fitted with our latest entertainment screens and will give you more storage space. What’s more, we’re also installing our award-winning mood lighting in the new cabins, including new displays of our spirits and glassware at the bar.
Changes to our Premium Economy class on the A330 include our fantastic Wander Wall, where you’ll be able to stretch your legs, and grab a drink or snack whenever they like.
Keep your eyes peeled for these upcoming changes, we’ll upgrade all our A330s over the next year or so.
Virgin Atlantic and Delta are now fully co-located at London Heathrow
The 14th September marked the first day of our full co-location with Delta at Heathrow Terminal 3 (T3). Delta have switched their Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and Philadelphia flights from Terminal 4 to join their services to New York JFK, Boston and Seattle that already operate from Terminal 3.
Following the move, Delta OneTM customers and all SkyMiles® Diamond and Platinum Medallion® members will have access to the Virgin Atlantic Revivals Lounge to help them refresh after their journey, Delta One passengers will also have access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and Upper Class Wing while Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members travelling in Delta Main Cabin, Virgin Atlantic Economy, Delta Comfort+, Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy will be directed to use No1 Lounges, Heathrow located in Terminal 3.
With all Virgin Atlantic and Delta flights now operating out of T3, we’ll be able to offer our customers an even more seamless, joined-up service, whether they’re flying with us or Delta. The move also means that as a partnership we now have 28 daily flights from the UK to the US operating from T3.
Heathrow clubhouse is getting a makeover
We want to look our best for you. So as our Heathrow Clubhouse turns ten, we thought it was time for a facelift. Some small changes that’ll make a big difference to your Clubhouse experience.
Because of that, we’ll be working on certain parts of the Clubhouse from mid November to Spring 2017. You’re as welcome as ever to spend time in the Clubhouse. But just be aware that some areas will be temporarily closed.
Once the work is done, the Clubhouse will be better than ever. You’ll be able to savour your breakfast, lunch or dinner in the extended Brasserie. Or enjoy having extra space in the Deli and self-serve area. You’ll even be able to hide away in the new, secluded cinema space. And with extra bathrooms and seating, there’ll be more places to relax, work and freshen up before you fly.
Taking care of the air
We’re continuing to improve on our environmental impact, and the total carbon dioxide emissions from our aircrafts have fallen 4% since 2014. Our annual Change is in the Air Sustainability Report has been released, and we’ve reduced the energy output in our aircraft and buildings, as well as raising almost £900,000 for charities last year.
In our environment programme, we’ve cut the noise output of our aircraft and we’re more than one-third of the way to our 2020 target. We’ve also continued to cut the energy use at our UK buildings, which is down more than 25% since we started monitoring in 2008. We’ve even reduced our aircraft CO2 emissions by 15% since the baseline rate of 2007.

New home at Gatwick
From 25 January 2017 all Virgin Atlantic London Gatwick flights will arrive and depart at the North Terminal.

Summer 2017 leisure services
We bet you’ll like this. In April next year we're launching a new all year service between London Gatwick and Varadero. That’s one of Cuba’s most popular beach resort towns. Complementing our existing twice weekly London Gatwick-Havana service, the new service will give you more opportunity to explore Cuba plus the added flexibility of flying directly to the city or the beach.
You’ve asked. We’ve listened. That’s why we’re also increasing services to Barbados, Florida and Las Vegas for summer 2017. And we’re doubling the number of flights between Belfast and Orlando during June and July, so those of you in Northern Ireland get more chance to escape to the Sunshine State. We’re adding extra services from Glasgow, Manchester and London Gatwick, too.
