Virgin Atlantic extends flexibility for Flying Club members
Our Flying Club members earn various rewards throughout the year and for those that are valid as of 13th March 2020, we will add an additional three months for customers to redeem them which will show in members accounts by Friday 12th March 2021.
In a further step last week, Virgin Atlantic introduced unlimited free date and flight changes for new bookings as part of a series of enhancements to give further flexibility to customers and support their future travel plans. Alongside the improved changes policy, the rebooking horizon has been extended for all customers all the way until 30 April 2023, giving a broader window of time to reschedule plans if needed.
Flying Club members have recently been invited to enrol in Virgin Red, Virgin’s new reward club. Customers can seamlessly link their Flying Club account, creating a shared Virgin Points balance that they can use across either programme. At the heart of the bolstered earning and spending opportunities are Virgin Points – the universal Virgin currency that unlike many other loyalty currencies, have no expiry date.

Your vouchers, more options
We’ve made some changes to our vouchers to make them simpler and more rewarding. Whether you’ve got upgrade, companion or Clubhouse vouchers, and whether you’ve earned them through your tier status or via your credit card, these improvements will allow you to enjoy your well-earned benefits even more easily.
- Companion vouchers can now be used in conjunction with any ticket in any booking class and can be used in any cabin of travel (excluding Economy Light and Economy Delight) regardless of your tier status. Your companions can’t be booked into a higher cabin than you.
- If you have earned your companion voucher through one of our credit cards, you can now book your companion into any cabin regardless of what tier status you hold. If you are Silver or Gold when you make the booking, the companion reward seat will be zero points. If you are Red when you make the booking, the companion seat will be zero point in Economy Classic and Premium, or a 50% reduction in the points needed for Upper. See the full terms and conditions here
- Upgrade vouchers can now be used in conjunction with any ticket in any booking class including reward flights (but excluding Economy Light), for a one cabin upgrade for a return flight.
- Clubhouse vouchers are now valid for all flights booked on Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Air France and KLM when flying internationally.

Tier points on reward flights
We believe you should be rewarded every single time you choose to fly with Virgin Atlantic. That’s why we will now be giving you tier points on every flight – including reward flights. From 1st September 2020, reward flights will be even more rewarding as you’ll receive the same tier points as if you were booking with money, making it even easier to progress to Gold and Silver status. So even if you have already booked your redemption, if your flight date is after the 1st September you will earn tier points.
For redemptions in Economy (A class) will earn 25 tier points (one-way)
For redemptions in Premium (P class) will earn 50 tier points (one-way)
For redemptions in Upper (G class) will earn 100 tier points (one-way)
