Cancun International Airport T4 is now open
After two years and an investment of nearly 2.5 billion pesos, Terminal 4 of the International Airport of Cancun is now open. That makes it the first airbase in the country with four terminals, and we’re very proud to be operating out of Terminal 4.
This investment means that the airport will now be able to serve 9 million more people, upping its capacity to 25 million passengers. And this will continue to increase to 32 million by 2020 when T4 operates at full capacity. The spring of 2018 will see a brand new lounge opening in Terminal 4. In the meantime, Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers and Flying Club Gold members will be offered vouchers that can be redeemed in any of the airside restaurants.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Update
The partnership between Virgin Atlantic and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will come to an end on 30th June 2018. Any existing bookings made and ticketed prior to this date will be honoured.
Flying Club members will be able to earn miles on any bookings for stays until 30th June 2018.
New year, new hair treatments
From 1 January 2018, we’re going to be introducing a new series of hair treatments for men at our Clubhouse Spas.
When flying from London Heathrow or New York JFK, men will now be able to enjoy a 30 minutes Olaplex Experience for just £30 (or 15 minutes for £15). Olaplex is a new kind of hair treatment that rebuilds the strength, structure and integrity of hair.
Together with our new treatments, you’ll also find our new pre-flight trim price plan in place. A Cleanse and Trim will now cost £20 in the UK and $20 at JFK. While a Clipper Cut will be £10 in the UK and $10 in the US.
Get some shuteye while you fly
Despite ultra-comfy seats or fully flat beds onboard, not everyone manages to settle down and get a restful night’s sleep when they fly. So, we put together a few tips to help you doze off on your flight and make the most of your trip when you arrive.
1. Before you fly - The day before your flight, you should try and eat three balanced meals. That includes at least five servings of fruit or green vegetables and one of something rich in protein, like turkey, fish or tofu.
2. At the airport – Be sure to eat heathy before you fly, go for something light, not a big bloating carbfest.
3. Get comfy - Either wear loose fitting clothes or bring your PJs to change into. And remember your night socks if you want to take your shoes off, think of your fellow passengers.
4. Keep to your routine – By sticking to your usual bedtime routine, washing your face, removing makeup, cleaning your teeth, you’ll help your brain wind down and get ready for sleep.
5. Switch off – Tablets, phones and even TVs all supress the production of melatonin the hormone that induces sleep. Instead, try listening to some relaxing music and wind down by reading a book – nothing too thrilling though.
6. Make it dark – Lights and noise are all a distraction that will keep you from nodding off. So, pop on your eye mask and slip in your earplugs, then try imagining you’re at home in your own soft and warm bed.

How to make the most out of Flying Club
Are you getting the most out of your Flying Club membership? Here's a few tips to help you out.
Miles Plus Money
You don’t need a huge miles balance before you start saving money. With as few as 3,000 miles, you can bag a discount of £18 on your next Virgin Atlantic flight - and the more miles you have, the more money you can save. What’s more, you’ll still earn miles and tier points for the ticket you’ve booked, so your balance keeps growing towards even more rewards. It’s easy to do, just make sure you select the Miles Plus Money option when you search for a flight and your options will come up.
Spend your miles on our new standard and peak season reward flights, starting from just 20,000 miles return. Peak season reward flights are available at 20,000 miles more, whichever cabin and wherever your adventure takes you. Details on the peak dates and seasonal reward prices to all our destinations are here.
A little short for that reward you really want? No worries. You can easily buy miles, from as few as 1,000 or as many as 100,000. Introducing Departure Beach
We all dread the last day of our blissful holiday – the one where you have to check out of the hotel, but still have hours to wait until you need to head to the airport. We all wish we could just have a few more hours of relaxing on the beach… Well, now you can, with Virgin Holidays Departure Beach in Barbados.
We’ll collect you from your hotel after breakfast and drop you at the Departure Beach, and whisk your baggage off to the airport so you don’t have to worry about it. Just relax on the beach, by the full service bar (soft drinks, tea and coffee are all included), have a spot of lunch (also included), or chill out in the air conditioned lounge with TV, games console and kids area, and free WiFi.
We can even check you in and print your boarding pass while you’re at the Departure Beach, so you can wring every last sun-soaked moment out of your holiday.
And if you can’t resist a final dip in the blue waters, we have beach towels for you, plastic bags to store wet swimwear, and lovely showers to rinse off every last bit of sand before your flight.
The Departure Beach opens in Summer 2018, and will cost just £20 per adult and £15 per child.
Change to earning miles with Virgin Trains
We are making changes to the amount of Flying Club miles you will earn with Virgin Trains.
We’ve been making some exciting changes to our fleet, which will further improve your experience. One of the changes we’re making is the introduction of a new Upper Class Suite to our A330 fleet bringing the Upper Class cabins in line with the popular 787s.
We’ll be replacing the current suites with those found on the 787s. These will be fitted with our latest entertainment screens and will give you more storage space. What’s more, we’re also installing our award-winning mood lighting in the new cabins, including new displays of our spirits and glassware at the bar.
Changes to our Premium Economy class on the A330 include our fantastic Wander Wall, where you’ll be able to stretch your legs, and grab a drink or snack whenever they like.
Keep your eyes peeled for these upcoming changes, we’ll upgrade all our A330s over the next year or so.
