“A jewel of a place”

Doesn’t look much on arrival but when you get through the security gate you enter a very functional, friendly and welcoming place to stay. Everyone is very friendly from the staff, management and guests. Breakfast is excellent with all sorts to eat and order. Very central to the town and also very safe. We had a drinks package which was excellent. What ever you wanted! Would definitely come back

Wow. We had a wonderful few nights at Last Word. Two things I'd especially highlight: the quality of service/staff and the comfort of the hotel itself. The two managers we interacted with, Freddie and Conrad, were exceptional hosts. Very helpful and knowledgeable and full of good advice and tips for the region. They couldn't do enough for us! It's the kind of service that's very hard to find in UK and European hotels. All of the rest of the team did a great job, too. The hotel is hugely comfortable. They've thought of everything. There's a free bar which is always welcome (though good wine is not hard to find, or expensive in Franschhoek ). I'd note in particular they stock non-alcoholic spirits which is a HUGE thing in my opinion - it's so much better than just having diet coke each night. But it's not just the bar that's comfortable. They've got a wood burner for cold nights, a pool for hot days. The rooms are big and spacious and comfy with sofas that don't just look nice but are actually comfortable to sit on. Part of the hotel looks out over an assembly or construction yard, so you may get some noise during the day, but it was very quiet at night despite its very central location. I'm a light sleeper and I didn't need to reach for my earplugs once.

Brilliantly located hotel, great staff, very welcoming and helpful. Room was nice but there are still a few signs of the damage from the flood, specifically around the back door to the private pool. Might need a bit of attention but not a big issue, just an observation. Great breakfast and a very informative manager who helped us plan our last day before we went to the airport. Lovely stay, thank you.
