The hotel

Fancourt Hotel is definitely one of South Africa’s premier hotels. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, rooms are split between the 150 year old Manor House, which has been completely remodelled to create a boutique hotel and the main hotel, which effortlessly combines modern luxury with traditional elegance. A golf estate – Outeniqua and Montagu 18-hole Golf Courses are two of the finest you’ll encounter – a must for any enthusiast. Meanwhile, those intent on a spot of pampering are also in for a treat. Rituals inspired by the four elements: air, water, fire and earth form the basis of all therapies, ensuring you leave your tranquil surrounds feeling balanced and on top of the world! Dining can be as formal or as casual as you please. There are several restaurants to choose from, including La Cantina, which is ideal for all the family. The town of George is in the middle of the Garden Route, halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Approximately a 4 hour 30-minute drive from Cape Town.

115 rooms. All of which are air-conditioned and have a balcony or patio, satellite TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar* and safe. Classic Rooms overlook the Outeniqua Mountains, gardens or the Montagu Golf Course, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults.
Luxury Rooms offer more space with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults. 

One-Bedroom Suites with separate living area, private patio or balcony and 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

4 dining venues; Henry Whites (fine-dining), la Cantina (Italian taste experience), Monets (French bistro), and The Club Lounge overlooking the 18th green of the Montagu golf course.

Spent two fantastic days playing golf with my son at Fancourt. Special golf course, beautiful grounds, brilliant caddie and excellent hotel.

Absolutely beautiful location and facilities. Staff were well trained and the facility was so well run. Golf court was magnificent.

I stayed at Fancourt as part of a golf tour of 16 golfers from Australia. I have stayed in many resorts and hotels around the world including golf resorts and this is by far the best resort I have ever stayed at. The accommodation, food, staff, golf courses and facilities were all first class. The staff were particularly helpful and always with a smile including James my caddie who had to endure my terrible golf! The only downside has been a long delay in receiving my R2000 refund of my hotel credit. It has been 15 days since I checked out and still no sign of the refund. This is far too long to hold someone's money for something they never even used. I have advised the hotel of my concern and am awaiting a reply. Read less

Our accommodation was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. We also loved the variety of dining options—each meal we had was delicious and thoughtfully presented.
