Avoid this hotel at all costs. I sustained a facial injury caused by a broken ambarella while I was sitting by the hotel’s swimming pool. The injury required medical treatment. Despite this, the hotel has refused to take any responsibility. I received a letter from their solicitor stating: “No wrongful or negligent act by our Insured can be attributed to the incident, which was solely caused by an act of God. Accordingly, the loss must lie where it has fallen.” They also claimed to have a signed registration card in which guests agree that: “The hotel shall not be responsible for injury. In addition, the guest and their party waive any claims against the insured and agree to indemnify and hold the insured harmless.” I find this response deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL - We suffered a terrible accident whilst guests at 54 on Bath...a canopy collapsed on us whilst we were having drinks in the gardens and my husband was ambulanced to hospital and had 7 stitches in his face. The hotel Manager said he'd look after us because it was very stressful and we were being asked to pay for ambulances and doctors before they'd look at you. Afterwards though, he didn't want to be contacted and directed us to their lawyers who now 6 months later are denying any responsibility even though I have photos and the email trail from the acutely embarrassed Manager, Nathan McMiles, who had told us the hotel would obviously cover any costs, and I have the ambulance and hospital evidence. They have left us with huge hospital bills and my husband has a scar that needs corrective surgery. Hotels have a duty of care for their customers which they have failed in. We are now instructing lawyers.

From the moment we stepped out of the car that brought us from the airport to the hotel, we were treated to the best customer service that I have experienced in 40 years of staying in some of the best hotels in the world. From April the doorman, to the reception desk team we could not have received a better welcome. April then brought our luggage to the room and spent time explaining all of the facilities to make sure that we maximized our enjoyment. The staff in the restaurant were first class as was the food, the housekeeping staff were kind and thoughtful as well as highly efficient. We stayed for 9 days so we got a really good idea of the consistency of service and the standard did not waiver. On our last night we sat in the lounge and enjoyed a concert from the wonderful and extremely talented piano player with some vocal support from the reception team, it was a highlight.
