Ulusaba has 20 rooms and suites spread over 2 exquisite lodges. Safari Lodge has a fantastic bush location built along the banks of a dry river bed and offers a selection of Elephant Rooms, a Safari Room, River Rooms, a Treehouse Suite and the new Safari Suite. All with private entrances and terraces providing incredible views of passing animals on their way to the nearby waterhole, air conditioning, ceiling fan, minibar (restocked daily), a sitting area and en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower.

The Safari Room is located close to the main building and has a large viewing deck, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

All Inclusive of: all food and beverages - including top quality wine list, premium branded spirits and French Champagne. Twice daily-game drives, daily walking safari (subject to favourable weather conditions), local entertainment, laundry service and transfers from Ulusaba air strip.

Elephant Rooms are 'treehouse style' built high above the bush and mostly accessed by swing bridges, sleeping maximum 2 adults. As the name suggests they are great for elephant viewing with their location being on a elephant migratory route!

River Rooms have the same facilities as an Elephant Room and 2 of the River Rooms have infinity plunge pools, sleeping maximum 2 adults. River Rooms are very secluded making them the perfect romantic bush getaway.

The Treehouse Suite is a stunning, unique suite featuring a private deck with magnificent views over Xikwenga Dam where hippos and elephants come to bathe. Perfect for honeymooners, sleeping maximum 2 adults. The suite is a 10-minute walk from the main lodge and is accessible by swing bridges and raised walkways.

Safari Suite - this private suite is next to the Main Lodge and is accessed through its own entrance into a walled garden with boma fire pit. There is a separate spacious lounge that opens onto a large viewing deck with jacuzzi plunge pool, outdoor shower and private dining table for maximum 8 adults. The suite boasts an en-suite bathroom with a separate toilet and an additional guest bathroom next to the lounge. The Safari Suite can be interconnected with the Safari Room to sleep maximum 4 adults.

Beyond Expectations.

Ulusaba Safari Lodge is Heaven on Earth as its sign says. It is truly magical from the moment you get there. All the the staff wants to get to know you and they treat you like family. Everyone is extremely accommodating, and goes the extra mile. The game drives were cold and my husband needed a cap after the gift shop had closed. He mentioned it to Richard who was actually the bartender. A few minutes later Richard returned with a knit hat. The food was plentiful always, you can eat as a group, privately or even room service. The sky is the limit. The game drives were beyond incredible. We had Brandon and Sepo who worked so well as a team. Not only did we see the Big 5 but I think we saw them almost daily. I had some slight mobility issues and Brandon went out of his way to help me in and out of the vehicle, up and down stairs. Anything and Everything, he had my back. He was always a step ahead of my needs and the needs of our entire group as well. This was truly one of the best vacations. To all the staff, a huge heartfelt Thank You. Read less

Love this place!

Fantastic and just love this place! The team are awesome and the drives are amazing. This was our second visit and I am delighted they have taken the decision to re build the lodges. It is very dated and needs it, so we cannot wait to come back in 2027! The prices are high compared to other luxury lodges, so please ensure you stay price competitive. High praise to our Ranger - Pete, the hosts Richard and Matt. Also great to meet Vickers. (We missed Anell and whilst delighted she has been promoted, her presence, was missed - but huge Congrats!) Just great!

All the other reviews say it all…. And Thai just repeats! Great staff - we had Peter and Respect as our driver and tracker. They were fabulous - we saw so much. We stayed 4 nights - all the game drives were great - sometimes it’s the drives when you see less or it takes time to find that end up being the most rewarding. Sundowners in the evening and star watching, animals in abundance and up so close, blankets and hot water bottles in the cooler morning plus insulated cups of coffee…. All other staff and food / drink also great., wrapped within a great setting and experience. Our room was lovely. Go on the walkway up to the Dam - sit there during the day with a book, beer and camera and there are rewards of your patience! We had tea up at the rock lodge - great views but I was happy that the safari lodge felt closer to animals and the Dam. This is due to close next year for a refit, whilst there are some reviews that suggest the odd bit of tiredness we did not find this anywhere. Read less

Exceptional safari experience

We have just spent three nights at the Safari Lodge, our first visit. This has been a wonderful experience. The lodge and rooms spread along the river bank have a peaceful, tranquil ambiance, punctuated by wildlife wandering along the river bank, oblivious to humans watching them. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, the food and wine all excellent. But the game drives are what takes this place to a higher level. We saw so many animals, including the so-called Big Five, in our five game drives, it was truly mind blowing. Our ranger and tracker were exceptionally skilled, driving off into the bush, not randomly but having seen the tracks identifying there was a sight to be had. To follow a wild dog hunt as they searched for their evening meal, including a confrontation with a herd of wildebeest, was fascinating. To see the drama unfold between a leopard, her adventurous cub and an opportunistic hyena, right in front of us, was incredibly privileged. To see hyenas “playing”, again, fascinating. When there was a “sighting”, the rangers carefully managed the process so that no more than two trucks were present at any time. The evidence of this is that the animals could not care less about our presence. They were more worried about their natural predators! I highly recommend this wonderful experience.
