Standard Suites have a main bedroom with 1 king-size bed, or twin beds, an outdoor shower and also features an en-suite bathroom with a patio overlooking the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Sleeping maximum 2 adults.

“Safari memories”

We traveled with a group of 40 family and friends. We were impressed with everything. The rooms were beautiful, private and comfortable with beautiful views. The staff were awesome and accommodating. The food…delicious and so much. Of course the safari was the highlight and did not disappoint. Our driver made every effort to make sure we saw as many animals as possible and was so knowledgeable. It was an amazing, memorable stay.

We stayed for five nights, transferring easily from Johannesburg, and from the moment we arrived we knew we were somewhere special. The lodge sits slightly elevated on the edge of the reserve, offering beautiful sweeping views — peaceful, scenic and filled with wildlife sounds. Our two-bedroom villa was stunning: two large, immaculate bedrooms with a spacious lounge between them, and a private deck with its own pool overlooking the bush. Everything was spotless, comfortable and perfectly thought out for relaxation after early mornings on safari. The food was consistently superb. Breakfast after the morning drive was à la carte, always fresh, beautifully cooked and served with a smile — just what you need after being out at dawn. Lunch from 1 pm was another highlight, a three-course feast every day, and dinners were à la carte again with impeccable presentation and a lovely wine selection. Our guide, Hellen, was incredible — full of knowledge, warmth and enthusiasm. The drives at 5.30 am and 4.30 pm were genuine adventures. We were lucky enough to see all of the Big Five, and sometimes even raced through the reserve to catch a sighting just in time! Every single member of staff made the stay feel personal. We were greeted on arrival with singing, and every time we returned from a drive, the team met us with cool towels and big smiles. Those thoughtful touches made the experience unforgettable. Everything about Shepherd’s Tree Lodge felt special — the people, the views, the wildlife and the atmosphere. I would wholeheartedly recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Myself and my partner came to Shepherds Tree Game Lodge to go on safari. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left everything was amazing. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the accommodation is outstanding. We were there 3 days and did 6 game drives with Nico and they were breathtaking. Yes we managed to see all the different animals we were despite see but even on the drives when we didn’t see many animals, just driving around the Pilanesberg national park was breathtaking.
