This lodge is unique for so many reasons that you’ll begin to forget which one you like the best. For starters, it’s located within one of the world’s largest extinct volcanic complexes and is surrounded by numerous African native animals including: springbok, cheetah, rhino, elephant and lion. The Ivory Tree Lodge has also been upgraded to fully represent contemporary luxury without detracting from the natural environment. A large swimming pool and guest areas are designed to provide relaxation and relief for groups and individuals. Meal times can be enjoyed inside or outside and you’ll be amazed at the fine dining options. Two lounge areas and two bars, one of which serves cocktails, provide the perfect evening location from where to reflect on your day’s adventures in the bush. If you’re looking for further activities, other than a ‘Big Five’ safari, then why not try getting involved with something cultural including interactive drumming sessions.

Pilanesberg National Park is located in North West Province, South Africa, to the west of Pretoria and on the outskirts of Sun City. The lodge is set within a gigantic extinct volcanic crater within the Pilanesburg Game Reserve. Transfer time from Johannesburg Airport: approximately 3 hours.

67 rooms and suites boasting indoor and outdoor comfort with earthy colour tones that complement the natural surroundings. All with air conditioning, safe, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini fridge, covered patio, toiletries, hair dryer, en-suite bathroom and outside shower.

Standard Suites are decorated with African décor and have either 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child.

Full Board includes: all meals, coffees, snacks, 2 game drives per day and entrance fees.

“Upgraded rooms , prices and service went downhill . Waited 40 mins for main course at lunch cannot handle new menu”

The hotel is in the process of upgrading .new rooms are nice basically upgraded furniture no more mosquito nets so bugs are roaming freely killed multiple as I type.Service with the new menu is awful waited 45 mins for my main course at lunch and dinner put in the corner no light and watched everyone around me get served first when I sat way before them . The hotel asks for allergy info but not one menu item was lactose free so why ask. Basically they are charging foreigners US prices and locals cheaper prices . Sad to say this is my 6th visit in 10 years and looks like my last still have 2 more night will update if it changes .Better value elsewhere move on

“Pilanesberg - a harmonious experience”

Each day brought a new experience filled with varied and unique wildlife sightings. Our game drive guide Japha was experienced, knowledgeable, and kind. Although we started each day quite early, I found myself easily adjusting to the schedule as it resulted in SO MANY wildlife to be observed; including a rare black rhino and a few leopards. The accommodations were well-designed and included individual touches for each room; the patio overlooked the Park with readily observable wildlife (Zebra) and birds. There were a number of activities to engage in after/before each safari, and I learned drumming with a very musical and patient instructor. The staff were wonderful and the food was outstanding and comprised of some unique game dishes (e.g., ostrich, springbok, etc.) including a Braii night; and the chef communicated with us during each dinner. In summary, the vibe at the Ivory Tree Lodge was one of harmonious balance: of seeing so much wildlife in a very chill/relaxed atmosphere.

“Unforgettable 48 hours”

From the start the hospitality was expectional. The rooms were fabulous with beautiful views of the park and the food well thought out including unique dishes- Imphala burger, Kudu steak...But the best were the safaris organised . Very well planned by the hotel and our guide Thapelo was very knowledgeable and intuitive - in just 4 rides saw not just all 'the Big 5' but many more animals very close. The amazing highlights - seeing a leopard with her playful cub and the lionesses hunting right in front of our eyes, like an Attenborough documentary.
