If you are staying in Calgary, this hotel is definitely worth considering. Great location by the tram/train line which is part free. Very helpful and friendly staff. The room was spacious and reasonably modern. Swimming pool is a bonus - very clean and towels provided. We used the Moxies restaurant for a breakfast which was great.

Tag asking to clean my room was on my door for 3 days . Hallway was not vacuumed for weeks
As final insult we had fire alarm in middle of night on August 02 , descended down stairs and waited for someone to inform us what to do .
I heard from other guests it was false alarm ( 3 fire trucks were on scene )
In the morning during the check out they pretended that was “ not a big deal “ and I was overreacting , in regards of room it is normal that guest cleans and they replenish towels for “ free”
Never again in any of these brand of hotel ,

A convenient hotel in the central Downtown Core

The Sandman is a convenient hotel in the central Downtown Core of Calgary, within easy walking distance of downtown restaurants on Stephen Avenue. It is usually more affordable than other downtown hotels, and the rooms are spacious if a bit dated. However, everything was really clean! The elevators do get busy so there is sometimes a wait to use them. And the bathrooms are just way too small. However, it is still a good place to stay and I would stay there again. The highlight was the excellent staff, very professional. In particular, Zalak really helped me out and came to the rescue when I was in need. Many thanks!

We stayed at the Sandman Signature in downtown Calgary for 2 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location, right across the street from a train stop; the train is super convenient and free within the downtown area! It’s also right near Stephen’s Street, a pedestrian street full of restaurants and entertainment. The hotel staff were kind and helpful. The room itself was on a corner, and the view was not great: an apartment building was right nearby, and some people had garbage sitting out on their decks, etc. Other than that, it was a very decent place to stay!

Great stay for the Stampede
Jul 20, 2025Narelle_gmSydney, Australia
I would recommend this hotel. We spent two nights here for the stampede and were happy with our stay. The beds were comfortable, the room was quiet and clean. The location was great as it was right near the train line and McDonalds.
