Great stay for the Stampede

I would recommend this hotel. We spent two nights here for the stampede and were happy with our stay. The beds were comfortable, the room was quiet and clean. The location was great as it was right near the train line and McDonalds.

We booked this hotel for our trip to Calgary to see the Stampede. We stayed June 29 to July 5. Hotel was conveniently located downtown. We walked most of the time we were in Calgary as it was close to everything. We received an upgrade to a King room and we could actually see the Stampede parade from our window on the 23rd floor. Room was clean, bed very comfy and came with these plush robes that were soooo luxe! Room had a microwave and a fridge. Also a kettle which was great for a tea drinker like me! Only complaint about the room was the shower. I guess being on the top floor, the hot water takes time to reach the floor. We would have to run it for about 3 minutes before getting in. Also, the shower head was one of those "rainfall" ones so didn't really enjoy that. Prefer more direct shower with better pressure. Parking onsite was convenient. Expect to pay $20/day during the week and $6 on weekends. Nightly rates increased from the original $150 night to almost $700/night on July 4 when the Stampede started, so there's definitely some price gouging there when the Stampede is on!!! Didn't use the gym. Tried the pool, but I found the water too cold. Hot tub had clumps of hair floating around in it, so didn't use that either. I'm sure it was an isolated thing, but I never went back to try again during my stay.

A few suggestions

Clean and comfortable. Good location. Like most Canadian hotels, no milk in fridge, but for tea and coffee there were only paper cups. Handy if you want to take with you but we didn't. No tea spoons, we'd bought yogurt for an early start. Fortunately we ate dinner in the hotel and dining staff gave us some

We had asked for a 2 bed bedroom but at check in were told it was 1 bed and the hotel was fully booked. The bed was very small,a double, not even queen or king sized.Apart from this everything else was fine.
