The gf "scones" were so sticky they stuck completely to the napkin covering them. There was basically no filling in the sandwiches - a single layer of smoked salmon with cream cheese, a similar thin cucumber and third that was forgetable. There was absolutely no seasoning and no one at the table liked them . For the amount you pay, you expect at least an interesting flavour - this was like someone in the kitchen was on an extreme budget. At this point, there are lots of better GF options available as well so all in all disappointing. The teas we picked were excellent, the best thing was the strawberry jam and lemon curd - but sadly nothing soft and pillowy to put them on. The service was also excellent. Pastries were also relatively tasteless - we brought them home and they were not eaten. Read less

The Louiza restaurant welcomed us as a walk in lunch couple today. The lovely Cassandra was our server. She was very attentive and made our meal very enjoyable. Cassandra recommended the lamb and beef kebab! It was delicious, if you like that sort of thing. The flavours were excellent. We then had a gin and tonic and a Peroni. Both were lovely.

Our family popped into the coffee shop while visiting Lake Louise. Over CAD 100 for a few hot chocolates and sandwiches. Price is what it is. However, once enough people had shelled out exorbitant dollars, some poor young manager was despatched to kick the customers out into the rain. He made a few comments about fire safety, its a grab and go café, none of which really held up. When asked if it’s Fairmont policy to charge over the odds for coffees and then push customers out in the rain, he replied yes. Either accept outside customers or not. Don’t do stuff that dilutes your brand. I’ve stayed in Fairmonts many times, and in accor hotels many more. This being thrown out in the rain like an undesirable doesn’t inspire me to spend more with your brand in the future. Read less

We visited the Chateau for one night during our train journey across the Canadian Rockies. When we checked in , it did take a while but the gentleman at the front desk was very courteous and helpful. He also asked for my phone number so we could text the front desk if there were any issues. We found our room on the sixth floor which overlooked another building where workmen were working on the roof with torches. It was very noisy, emitted an odor and our room was warm . I texted the front desk and they said the workmen would be done by 6:00-6:30. We went to dinner and came back to the room. The workmen were done but the room was warmer when we left. We turned up the air conditioning hoping that it would cool the room but it did not. We tried opening the windows because it was quite cool outside.but that did not cool the room either. I texted the front desk after midnight but did not get a response as I had gotten before. Needless to say we did not sleep well. This is considered a luxury hotel and the room was listed at over $2,000 a night. In the morning, I noticed a text from the front desk stating they would bring up a fan and that we could have a complementary breakfast. Since we were leaving on an early excursion this was not possible. My husband checked us out and they only took $150 off our bill. I understand they don’t have to work to get reservations because of their location but we thought they would have taken better care of us Read less

My wife and I spent two nights here. The hotel is very large and has a great location on Lake Louise. Most of the hotel’s guests seem to be on bus tours so it can get very busy when a bus arrives or departs. We used Accor suite upgrades and stayed in a junior lakeview suite. The suite was new and very large. It was extremely nice and had a great view of the lake. We had one odd issue with the room. It had a balcony but the door to the balcony was locked on the day we arrived. After we exchanged a few phone calls, we were told that it was locked due to a safety issue. The next day someone showed up and said that there was no safety issue and that it just needed to be unlocked, which they did. Pretty strange, but they sent us a bottle of wine and a bar credit for our trouble so it worked out ok. They didn’t send us a welcome gift for being an Accor Diamond member - first time ever. This was particularly disappointing as we stayed at 4 other Fairmont in Alberta on this trip and they sent great welcome gifts. We had access to the Gold Lounge which was excellent. The food at breakfast and happy hour was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We booked a bus trip to Moraine Lake through the hotel. It worked out very well and it’s a lot less hassle than trying to book through the Canada Parks website. We had dinner @ the Lakeview Lounge and their Swiss restaurant, Walliser Stube. We also had lunch @ Louiza’s. All of the restaurants were very good with good service. We liked the hotel a lot. It was inconsistent but we had a great room and you can’t beat the hotel’s location.
