“Outstanding Gold Floor Stay with Great Views”

We stayed two nights on the Gold Floor before flying back to the UK—and honestly, it was worth every extra dollar. The room was excellent in almost every way; (dim lighting the one misfire - the team provided an additional deal light but it was still too dim to read a book there! You have to sit in bed, with all the lights on, to read.). A brilliant bonus was the telescope in the room, perfect for spotting planes landing. I kept waiting for takeoffs too, until I realised there’s another runway for departures—so a fun discovery! The Gold Floor lounge is a major highlight. Breakfast is excellent; in the evening there are generous canapés and top-tier desserts. With soft drinks included during the day, you genuinely don’t need to eat out if you don’t want to. The fitness room is built to impress: modern Technogym cardio equipment, one of the best multi-power Smith machines I’ve ever seen, with towels, air conditioning, and everything else you might need. Staff were brilliant throughout—warm, attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Location-wise, it’s an easy trip into the city. I strongly recommend taking the SkyTrain to Olympic Village, then hopping on the False Creek ferries (or the Aquabus) down the river—great way to see the skyline from the water and soak up the vibe of downtown Vancouver. Overall, it was a first-class experience. Lighting in the room was the only real negative, but everything else—from amenities to views to service—left me certain I’d stay on the Gold Floor again without hesitation.

“Disappointing”

This may seem a bit precious but for the price I was pretty underwhelmed. I booked through the Accor app two months in advance and wrote to them on the day advising about an unexpected late arrival (and I strangely didn’t receive the usual pre-arrival questionnaire which most Accor properties send). They wrote back saying they didn’t have any record of my booking (even though I contacted them through the Accor app from the booking) and asked me to forward the confirmation email to them. When I checked in, there was no mention of my Diamond status and I’m not sure if they even realized that I was Diamond even though I gave them my card upon check in -- they just said “your number is on file” and handed it back. In theory I should have had Gold floor access — which was never mentioned— and I received exactly the room I had booked without any mention of any upgrade based on status (or any mention of no upgrade possible because of capacity issues.) I did like that rather than bottled water in the room they had a carafe of water and the room itself was comfy and clean. Decent water pressure in the shower as well. All that said, staff were friendly and professional — just no recognition of the Diamond status either at check in or in the room (where there is usually a letter or note)

Pure luxury. Was a splurge (for me) but worth it for being within the airport, with a late night arrival. It’s a bit of walk from Intertional Arrivals but easy to find. Large, clean and comfortable room.
