The hotel

Ready to party in Downtown Vancouver? This is your ideal base to do so, not just for it’s location, but for the hotel itself too! The standard rooms here are pretty compact, but if you’re just looking for somewhere to rest your head after a night out then you won’t be disappointed. Of course, if you want that bit more space to relax, you can opt for a Superior Room or even a Junior Suite (which is perfect for a group of friends to share together!). Start your evening in the Living Room where you’ll be greeted by happy hour, hearty food options and live TV’s – there’s always a reason to end up here. And then when it’s time to up the vibe, head downstairs to the basement. A basement that you wish you had at home, here you can grab a drink, boogie on the dancefloor, or even roll a game of skeeball (that could be interesting after happy hour ey!). Whilst the hotel has everything ready for the perfect party, you’re also within touching distance of many other eclectic bars and restaurants – so no two nights need to be the same. The hotel staff have some great insider knowledge that you can tap into – whatever kind of place you’re looking for. Come day time, you’re just a stroll away from BC place where you can catch the BC Lions or Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Or take a wander through the famous Stanley Park to get some fresh air after your night on the town.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Fire trap stay elsewhere

Fire trap. If you cannot go up and down 8 stairs stay away your life is at risk. The hotel has locked the handicap accessible doors and then double locked them behind metal grating. If a fire breaks out there is no escape path except 8 stairs. Why this is not disclosed in advance is a mystery, but if you are less than 100% mobile stay… Read more

Hoping to enjoy a few days in Vancouver, our AAA agent booked us at the Hotel Belmont Vancouver MGallery. However, my wife is mobility challenged... as the hotel fronts on a sloping street, the front entrance has 8? steep steps to get from the street to the main lobby. Ah, but there is a restaurant door half a block up the hill. However, the restaurant has closed (except for breakfast hours, where you can add a breakfast for $17 each). So, to leave the building, we needed someone to unlock two sets of doors as the doors are not open to the street. And upon returning, I needed to go to the desk, get someone to meet us at the restaurant door, and unlock- oh, after 10 AM a metal scissors gate is added, so it is 3 locks to be opened. (And 2 more interior doors to the elevator). She sat outside for 10 minutes (timed) while they tried to figure out which key worked. Never again! However, if you are fortunate to be mobile, the rooms are recently decorated in a quirky style. The elevator is slow so you can get your exercise and pass the riders. The staff is friendly... too bad they are stuck there! Read less

Smart and stylish hotel, well placed for access to Granville island. Longer walk (about 30 mins) to stanley park, seawall etc. Nice, clean rooms with porter service. Rooms on smaller side but usual for a city centre hotel. You will notice drug taking in the streets in Vancouver during day and night, but area generally OK for a city centre.

The hotel is in a good location - this does mean it gets quite noisy but with the windows closed it was fine. The breakfast was great and there was lots of choice. There was a fire nearby one night which meant the hotel lost power - the staff did their best to keep us updated throughout the night. My partner asked the staff if there was anything they could do for my birthday and they said no, which was unusual - most hotels offer Prosecco or even just a free soft drink at the bar. I also think the room was quite small - we picked a room with two double beds as it was (strangely) cheaper than one with one double bed. This probably didn’t help, as we had an extra bed that we didn’t need. Read less

First, the staff is all incredibly friendly and they are informative about area attractions, etc. The hotel was chosen for us by our travel agent and she and I have had a talk. The room was very clean and the bathroom nicely updated. Bed was fairly comfortable and pillows were okay as well. The room was TINY. My husband and I each had a large clam shell style suitcase and we couldn't have them both open on the floor at the same time. The scent in the lobby is so overpowering it gave me an instant headache. I can't fault the hotel necessarily because it seems to be a trend in many hotels these days. The food (breakfast buffet) was completely unedible. But most of the restaurant was partitioned off. It was cute too, just could not use it. Very weird. And the bathrooms for this area. Oh my. The wallpaper was character renderings of breasts. Yep. Tatas for days. We were apparently located in the "red light district" as there were two strip clubs one two doors down, one behind the hotel, an adult bookstore across the street and a "toy shop" and I'm not talking matel, down the street. I'm not a prude by any means, but it wasn't my favorite location. I wouldn't have felt safe walking alone right in this area, but hubs and I walked down to the cruise port area which was about a 15 minute walk and that is a nice area. Read less
