“Bad experience in summer”

This is a poorly managed property in a very convenient location. I stayed here with my family in July during and the hotel was packed with people about to head out on their Alaska cruises. The elevator system is confusing and awful. Breakfast was almost always a 30 min wait. The pool is tiny and cloudy by the afternoon each day. This is the type of hotel people stay at as part of a large group, convention, or because it’s part of a tour package. I do not recommend for a family holiday, business trip, or any trip where you don’t need large group accommodations. The worst part of my experience was that my rental car got a parking ticket at the hotel despite paying $80 night for valet parking. Hyatt continues to apologize but also blame their parking partner for making this error. But after several calls with the hotel management at this point, I’m skeptical it will be resolved before Avis charges me. Awful experience and terrible accountability. The good news is there is now a new Hyatt Alberni just a couple blocks away that is a way nicer property. While more expensive, the service and property have much better value for what you pay.

Great location for cruisers. Enjoyed walking the city and seeing the sights near by as well. Clean and very helpful checkin staff. Only stayed for the night but I would do it again.

“A non-premier hotel at a premier price”

Our room appeared not to have been vacuumed, and we found an open safety pin in the middle of the floor. Internet service was spotty and unreliable, and our room was very noisy because of the connecting door to an adjacent room -- there was no evident soundproofing at all. For what they charge, this is really not close to adequate. The room was fairly spacious and the pool area was nice, but otherwise, I just paid five times over for an experience I could have had at a Days Inn.
