We drove ourselves, so we weren't sure if we were in the right place when we pulled up to the front gate, but as we descended down to the main check-in, we were swept away and I'm not sure our feet hit the ground again until we were back at the airport a week later.
Our room, a hillside suite, was spacious, private, beautiful, and offered a fantastic view. Room service was discrete and we hardly knew they were there but that things were well organized and clean consistently. The plunge pool is not heated (which we appreciated!) and the side porch has both a covered, and uncovered option so you can sit outside to enjoy the view and sounds of the peepers and birds. We experienced very few bugs. On Thursday and Saturday nights there is a bumpin party on the Shirley Heights summit - steel pan covers and reggae. The music is loud enough on our porch to quietly dance too or sing along, and we could hear it in our room. It ended promptly at 10pm. We loved it, but ear plugs would have taken care of the issue for anyone who wanted to be in bed earlier. The bathroom has a magnificent glass wall that lets you take in the view. It's privacy one-way glass, so even though we never saw anybody outside our room, we felt comfortable showering there.
We had a personal golf-cart to make the three minute (bumpy) drive down to the beach and breakfast/lunch easy. The beach is public, but its remote location combined with the staff ensured only guests had access to the chairs and umbrellas -- Id say we saw 4-5 non-Inn people set up a towel over the course of the week - and that didn't bother us. There is more action on the far side of the beach with other businesses sharing that space (a rum institute, and some beach side villas) but I never felt like they were encroaching. Younger guests of The Inn, or those interested in distilling their own rum would probably enjoy the variety as the Inn beachfront is exclusively for sitting, hammocking -- the stuff of dreams.
We chose the half-board option (breakfast + dinner or lunch) and that worked out perfectly for us. I'm running out of room in this review, but I'd sum it up as the breakfast is an excellent 4-star option. We loved it, but it's menu is smaller than you might expect given the 5 star Inn. Dinner: each and every dinner course was a work of art. Overall, the dinners were the one part of our experience that went above and beyond expectations consistently.
