My wife and I spent a week here for our anniversary. It's a wonderful resort and beautiful scenery everywhere. The entire staff is very friendly and we tipped each time someone served us so we wouldn't miss them later when we left. Room - we had a Superior Waterfront and it was perfect!! The View from 179 is amazing and this villa was close to the beach, main pool, restaurants and bars. The resort is a bit hilly, if you are not in shape, but they have a shuttle that can pick you up if needed. We walked everywhere and it was 5-10 minutes depending on where we went. Food - 4.5 stars. The only restaurant I'd say don't waste the upcharge, is Nicole's. Their food was no better than the others and we actually had two courses that we didn't eat. Drinks - flowed too easy!! All the bartenders made great drinks and we had our Yeti 30oz with us and there was no problems filling them to the brim. We preferred Lovers Beach as it was close to food, bar and our villa. Rasta Beach was nice (for shade) but the real secret is their pool! Our favorite pool and most of the day we were there, it was only us or 2 other couples.....but Lovers Beach by far was our best pick. The main pool is nice but, if you are looking for "relaxing time," this is not the place. Way too much music and audience participation stuff. We have stayed on both sides of Antigua, both coasts have their own rewards. What makes The Verandah a step above, IMO, is the "cove" they are located in. Even on windy days - not a wave in sight and very calm water. And for those of you concerned about the weather? Most islands get rain over night or early in the morning....the days are usually sunny and dry. Oh, also go have some fun one day and play mini golf, shuffle board, billiards, darts and table tennis - a fun change of pace from just "laying around." Read less

Well where do I start! We were welcomed with a Rum Punch Cocktail whilst checking in to the resort. The staff are all extremely friendly and accomodating. As with anything in life there are ups and downs, but this was a holiday where everything was almost perfect with only a couple of areas for improvement. The food was amazing and one of the highlights of my holiday. The resort caters for almost everyone, with a variety of cuisines from various cultures, and something different on the menu from night to night. Our one off negative experience was in Nicole's, where we were made to wait just under two hours and thirty minutes for our three course meal. This was after being offered this as a complimentary experience, due to a mix up with our booking at Sails and Tails. This unfortunately had a knock-on effect to our evening plans, as the entertainment we planned ended at 23:00 and we didn't finished dinning at 21:45. The view from our room was exquisite, with it over looking one of the 365 beautiful beaches of Antigua, which our driver said is one for each day of the year. This can be accessed at the back of the resort, just past Sails and Tails. We had our room cleaned every couple of days and we were lucky to have been situated right at the heart of the resort, just minutes from the main bar, swimming pool and restaurants. The Beach Bar wasnt a great experience as the member of staff who were there during the day did not have the same positive energy as other staff we had met. Putting this aside, our experience was made even more special by a select few: Chef Khari & Chef Paul both provided a 5 star dinning experience whenever we are in Sea Breeze. Accomodating for those in our group with special dietary requirements and genuinely wanting to make our experience one to remember and that we will. Rochelle (Waitress) provided us "the icing on the cake", with her smiley greeting each day, best customer service skills and another extremely genuine person. Vanessa (Duty Manager) welcomed us at the start of our holiday and always greeted us with a smile. Vanessa was helpful in answering any queries or questions we had, and was there to wish us a safe journey before we left. A truly amazing woman! Adio (Entertainer) made us laugh, was always happy and fun to be around. Adio got involved in the pool games, dancing and evening entertainment. His overall energy was positive and infectious. Rohan (Entertainer) was the host for most of the events held and would always welcome us in the evenings, ask how our stay was going and was always accomodating to our needs, going above and beyond. Rohan took special requests when DJing in the day time and evenings, and also came to wish us a personal good bye at the end of our stay. Devon (Dancer) got the crowd going, teaching new dance moves and bringing the party vibe. In other word "life and soul of the party". Leon (Bar Staff) greeted us everyday and evening and would always give us a new experience of cocktail. Leon always remembered each of our drinks preferences and was an overall vibe. Overall my stay at the Veranda Resort and Spa was one I will never forget, created by the most amazing people. It was peaceful when it needed to be, exciting, funny and luxurious. I look forward to experiencing this again in the future with my whole family. So if this sounds right up your street, get booked in and I am sure you will receive a 5 star service. Read less

I would give it a 3.5 star, not a 4 star. The rooms are fine, I see some pictures with a room with a pool but I am pretty sure these pics or from a different hotel. The beach is nice and the pool. Everyone there is nice and when you want a shuttle it only takes a couple of minutes. The reason I only give 3 stars is the food is mediocre. The buffet is like cheap diner, not like a good diner. Dinner for buffet is 2 stars, breakfast maybe a 2.5 star. Seabreeze Restaurant is a 3 star. They try but is is another 3 star. We had 2 couples and the main entree is about 2 ounces of meat. One of my friends asks for two dinners and he is only about a 180 pounds. I am not a use drinker but got a couple drinks and they are cheap liquor. The Pizzeria was horrible, again cheap cheese and the dough is almost raw. The waiter was very nice but someone should show him how to make a pizza. For a $400 inclusive hotel that is about what you get. If the food was better I would give another $100 a day becasue the food is just not very good. If the food was better I would go again. Lastly, if you like to snorkel don't go to Antigua. All the coral is gone. We did a snorkel boat for $205 a person and swam with the stingrays (they feed them all day) but never saw a fish. Read less

You could always get picked up by the golf cart transportation and go to anyplace on the property. We also went over via golf cart to Pineapple beach resort. We preferred Verandah. The resort is very beautiful and lush with beautiful flowers and greenery. Beautiful birds will visit your balcony too. For a relaxation all vacation, we recommend. We also had a very nice day trip with Trek tours. Read less

Just returned from a 6 night stay with my husband. We really can't understand the negative reviews as we had a very pleasant experience overall. The staff was more than accommodating, friendly and seemed just Happy! The grounds are beautiful with lots of pretty little birds feeding on the vast variety of foliage around the resort. Food was good, not great, but good. Many Many options at the breakfast buffet. My only negative comment would be the wines that are served as part of the all inclusive - not my favorite, but other guests seemed to enjoy the wine. We would definitely return to the Verandah!
