So we’re a mid-20’s couple from the UK for reference and this was our 10-day experience at the Verandah Antigua- 10th-20th August 2026.
Location:
The location of the hotel is in a secluded area about a 45 minute taxi ride outside of St John’s and there really is nothing outside of the resort in walking distance apart from the Pineapple Beach Resort (which I believe you can pay a daily fee to use their resort/beach, but we didn’t do and there is also Long Bay Beach situated outside of the hotel to the right). Apart from that there is nothing within distance outside of the hotel. The hotel however do offer a guided walk to Devils Bridge which is at the back of the hotel and is definitely a must-see, despite there only being a few stalls there where souvenirs can be bought.
Resort:
On the whole the resort is absolutely stunning, we have never stayed anywhere as nice as this. The resort is HUGE, you could spend a day just walking round it and taking it all in. They also offer a golf cart service to take you from spot-to-spot as the walk round the resort, in the heat, is quite a lot. Lovers Beach on the resort is a beautiful stretch of beach with PLENTY of sun loungers, free of charge, to use at your convenience. Evening entertainment changed each night- DJ Night, Axis Band, Jazz Band, Karaoke, Pink Party, Silent Disco, Caribbean Market. This is what you make of it, but definitely more suited to a younger audience (my opinion).
Rooms:
We saw a lot of reviews about the rooms being quite outdated and honestly, they are a little bit, but for us it was everything we needed. The bed is comfy, the shower is OKAY, the balcony is lovely and big, the room itself is of more than ample size, the storage is good, there is a TV, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and sink, ironing board, and they even give you matching bath robes for your stay. Just don’t expect some really modern, top end hotel room, it lacked “luxury” but for us this was no issue, as we just fell in love with it all. The gift shop had plenty of souvenirs/clothes/snacks/alcohol and other bits in. Our rooms got cleaned and refreshed every other day, not a problem for us.
Activities:
You could spend your entire day at the resort, they have activities round the pool all day, they have their own pickleball courts/tennis courts, 18 hole mini golf course, pool table, kayaking, table tennis, ping pong, darts board, shuffleboard, fully equipped gym, to name I think the majority of it. They also have a full brochure of excursions that you can do through the hotel which was easily booked through Guest Services. They do a shades of pink beach party on a Friday which is such a good night, really good atmosphere all night with good food and music. They also have a chess board near the pool.
Restaurants:
Honestly, how anyone could complain about the food is BEYOND me. Breakfast is served in the buffet restaurant and is spot on, every day, with such a wide variety of things to choose from. Lunch is served every day at the Beach Grill restaurant, and has a smaller offering but is served à la carte, we enjoyed it here too, there is also a Pizzeria that serves BEAUTIFUL handmade pizzas every day 11-6, they open the buffet restaurant for lunch most days but not every day (I think as out of season), but plenty of choice for whatever you’d prefer. Dinner is either served in the buffet restaurant and the themes change daily (Indian, Asian, Tex Mex(our favourite night), Seafood, Southern), or you can sometimes choose the visit the à la carte Portofinos Italian restaurant, which we also found beautiful, or for a surcharge you can dine at Nicole’s Restaurant, two options of menus here, both à la carte style, one more predominately seafood related (Sails&Tails Menu). The food, we could not fault. There is also a 24 hour coffee shop that serves sandwiches/pastries and snacks, also really nice. The Wavy Wicket nighttime bar also serves food between 5pm-12:30pm, light snacks (chicken tenders, fritters, nachos, paninis), this was quite quiet when we went in, but still a nice little spot.
Staff:
The staff, we thought, were exceptional. Some people we were speaking to thought not as much but we genuinely couldn’t find a fault. There will always be the odd few that could be slightly more attentive/inviting but genuinely we had no problems here.
There were a special few that really made our holiday though and I just want to mention them for their truly truly exceptional service.
Lassandra, our bartender most nights, she is so kind and friendly. Truly goes out of her way to make you feel like a friend and gives top notch service. Great at what she does and such a warming personality.
Leon, our other bartender. This man is OUTSTANDING at what he does, he is SO knowledgable, he will probably know what you want to drink before you do, and if you don’t know, he will make you something that you will more than likely enjoy anyway and then remember what you’re drinking for the rest of the night so that you don’t even have to ask. He is SO good at what he does, has that classic cheeky patter with the customers and genuinely just works his a*** off, true asset to the team.
Arianne, our server/hostess in Nicole’s Restaurant on our first night and buffet restaurant on the other nights, very friendly, very chatty, notices the small things and so easy to talk to. Will go out of her way to get you something.
Kerryanne, our server at the Wavy Wicket, also very good at her job, good chat, friendly face, takes the time to speak to you.
The staff we honestly couldn’t fault. Quick mention to Diquanne, Theodore, Kerinne as well, as they were lovely to.
Just thank-you, our stay was perfect. We will be back as quickly as possible and would recommend this to anyone who asks. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts and we can’t wait to get to relive this holiday all over again hopefully soon.
