“Handicap stay away!”

Stayed at the Hyatt Baha Mar as a couple for 9 nights 10 days 11/17/25 - 11/26/25. The terrible service... I knew we were off to a rough start when the front desk manager reprimanded my handicapped wife, with a visible leg brace, and myself for walking up to the empty front desk counter. We were instructed by that manager to go back around thru a short maze and wait to be called. After less than a minute of waiting we were asked to approach the desk (by Kenesha, I think). This was ridiculous. During check-in I was told there were no handicapped rooms available even though I requested one in my trip booking. I said I understand and would appreciate a room when one is available, after all we are there for 9 nights and surely a handicap room would become available. Well, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days passed. I then talked to front desk manager Erick who said he would personally handle this and get us a handicap room the next morning. He took both my email and cell number. He never contacted me. No surprise. During check out on our 10th day I saw Erick avoiding me and I asked him what happened to getting us that handicap room? He said "Oh yeah I was to do that for you wasn't I"! Really?? Shame on him and Hyatt for such poor service. Now for the room... We brought our own wheelchair as my wife cannot walk long distances, we were prepared. The room was probably ok for non handicap folks but an absolute nightmare for my wife. There is a 30" X 30" area for the toilet area with a glass door. And a slightly larger space for showering. My boat has larger facilities. Neither have grab bars. The bed is so low that I needed to help her up. In the United States resorts and hotels are ADA compliant, meaning that things have height standards and are generally easier for the handicapped. Well, Hyatt Baha Mar isn't ADA compliant in the least bit. Even cheaper hotels in Mexico and 3rd world countries have better room accommodations than this Hyatt. Needless to say I will never be back to Hyatt Baha Mar and this disappointing experience has led me to select other properties in the future. There are sooo many better options. I've been to better, I've been to worse, and I must say goodbye and good riddance to Hyatt Baha Mar and all other Hyatt brand properties.

We've been to the Baha Mar several times, and will continue to come back! Our latest trip was for our wedding- which was the night of our lives! Special shoutout to Jennifer for helping to execute this amazing event. Tanaj at the front desk was also the most helpful & understanding when we had to fix a small room issue. He went above and beyond for us to ensure we were satisfied. The complex has a lot to offer, but is super navigable. We prefer the West Tower! Highly recommend!
