We loved our time at the Bougainvillea. The staff were excellent. From reception (Zawadi was fantastic) and the water sports lads, to the restaurant team. Some of the best interactions were with the gardener, the pride he had in looking after the grounds was great to see. Nothing was too much for anyone. One day when I came home from a fishing trip the chef kindly prepared and cooked the tuna & mahi mahi for us, best fish dish we had on the island. The room was a good size and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom though could do with updating. Around the pool area were plenty of sun beds and it was never too busy. A sandy beach was well maintained with beds and umbrellas set up at your request. There was an issue with sea weed that washed up daily (nature at work) but this was cleared daily. If you are looking for somewhere to chill and relax this place is perfect. Read less

The service was efficient and super friendly. Lisbeth our breakfast waitress was a delight and made every day start with a simile. Vivian on the bar was a wiz with the cocktails. Housekeeper was friendly and thoroughly cleaned the room What an enjoyable stay 😎

We stayed for a forthright at this hotel. I had read one or two criticisms previously, however I have to presume that these people may have stayed at an entirely different place from me. It was fantastic. I found all staff to be helpful, cheerful and very professional. There is a strong ethos for great customer service. The on-site restaurant serves food which is of a very high standard, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. The breakfast french toast with maple syrup was so so good. Food no drink prices onsite are very fair, in my opinion. Cocktails are well made and strong. We loved our junior suite room. It was very spacious with a superb view of the picturesque pool area and beach. The room had a kitchenette area with literally everything to hand, including a decent sized fridge and freezer too. Oh, and extra bonus, you can drink the tap water. It really good. The hotel isn’t party central at night, which was fine by me, however there is regular laid-back entertainment if you wish to stay there for the evening. Transport into nearby Lawrence Gap, with all its’ bars and restaurants, is no problem, either by bus or by taxi. We used the local “Pick Up” App, which is similar to Uber and taxied into town at night. Easy peasy. We ate out a lot and the area is well served by high level restaurants. We ate at Harlequin (one of my favourites) twice, the Cafe Sol Mexican, Champers (beautiful food - lovely location), QP Bistro (further up the coast and expensive - but food, service and Entertainment were first class) , to name but a few. The restaurants were all great. We hired a car for 3 days and found the country both beautiful, colourful and safe to go about in. To summarise - a wonderful holiday in a fantastic hotel. Read less

Bougainvillea has retained a sense of boutique charm visit after visit, with a picturesque meandering path from reception straight to Maxwell Beach. Every room I’ve stayed in over the last 4 visits has had a beautiful sea view and nothing can beat the ambience offered from the 2 bed deluxe beach front apartments. The swim up bar offers a relaxed charm, with happy hour between 3:30 - 4:30. However, there is only one operating bar during this time and often only one bar tender - ordering a drink can become a timely affair. Rooms offer reasonable kitchen amenities but don’t come with oven gloves, scissors or a colander. We found the oven to be slow to heat up and the kettle even slower. The hotel gym was a disappointment for me, with very old equipment which is in need of an upgrade; the dumbbells and pull up bar are rusty in places and ultimately do not make for a motivating exercising experience. Live music is on offer each evening, including guitar and saxophone, singing and steel pan. Mondays evenings offer a free drink during the manager’s welcome - although the manager was nowhere to be seen when I visited. Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel. Read less

This hotel is good in parts. Great position on the beautiful Maxwell beach . Nice rooms, well maintained by the friendly staff unfortunately very few rooms have a true sea view and there are no complimentary beverages in the rooms. There are no lifts, so if you can't deal with stairs, ask for a ground floor room. Nice small pools that seem child friendly and plenty of beach sunbeds and umbrellas serviced by a friendly water sports group. Food is a high standard in the only restaurant, but the menu is fixed, which can be a bit monotonous if, like us, you are there for 14 nights. The restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful but be aware, there is loud music next to the restaurant in the evening which makes it hard to have a conversation over dinner. There is a pool bar with great staff. We did find a problem getting room faults corrected during the stay. TV in the bedroom didn't work for the first week. Turns out, it needed a Google TV box. The phone was faulty, and it took them 12 days to fix it, in spite of repeatedly reporting it. Checkout is 11.00, so if you have a later flight, you will be hanging around the lobby for hours. One major fault is that there is only a single public toilet in the lobby and only one to cover the beach and restaurant. Overall, it is a nicely positioned hotel, but the single, noisey dining option means it's not a true four star facility, and we would not choose it in future. That may be something to do with us being in our late seventies. Read less
