The hotel

One of the hallmarks of any holiday in Barbados is a night at Oistins’ famous Fish Fry – and you are just a stroll from all the action (and a short drive from lively St Lawrence Gap for other nights out). Enjoy direct access to two fabulous white powder beaches laid out either side by of this seafront hotel. The iridescent blue waters of the Caribbean may be tempting, but you can also take a dip in the freshwater swimming pools – or head up to the raised circular patio for a soak in its trio of waterfront whirlpools or relax on the ample sunning areas with loungers and umbrellas. The sea views steal the show at The Reef Bar & Grill too, with its new seaside deck providing the perfect backdrop for Caribbean dishes, and for its weekly rum punch parties and barbecues accompanied by steel pan sounds. You can see why the Butterfly Beach Hotel is a great value for money resort in Barbados and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner.

This is our 5th trip back to Butterfly Beach Hotel travelling with 2 adults and 3 children (plus grandparents in their own room). The location on the beach itself is wonderful with beach access from both sides of the property. The Reef restaurant offers a wide variety of food options: breakfast, the usual lunch staples and evening menus that change daily - all very reasonably priced. Entertainment is on offer most evenings and happy hours twice a day. The rum punch is excellent! What really makes this place though are the wonderful people who work here. Friendly and caring, the Bajan welcome is lovely. John in particular, has gone out of his way to make sure our younger 2 children are having as much fun as mum and dad. All staff, from front desk to housekeeping are a true asset to this family friendly hotel. We booked the Penthouse apartment this time around, with a large living and dining area, a full kitchen and 2 very large en-suite bedrooms. The beds are very large and extremely comfortable. The wrap-around terrace for our apartment is enormous, with sun-beds for 6 and ample room to dine outside to admire the outstanding view. Some previous reviews note that there are not many other dining options nearby. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. We’ve used the handy ZRs in the past (cheap, convenient and SO much fun!) to reach nearby areas such as Rockley (Accra) or a little further to Carlisle Bay. Oistins is on your doorstep - 10 minute stroll, with a well stocked supermarket if you need it. We’ve hired a car over the last few times to explore the island. Definitely worth the effort to see beyond the gorgeous beaches. Visiting Butterfly Beach is a no brainer. See you Summer 2026 - we’ve already booked! Read less

The staff are so helpful and full of personality which is a breath of fresh air. We had a great size room with a lovely comfy bed and fantastic views from the balcony. There’s so much choice of where to sit and soak up the atmosphere and sunshine. Two pools, jacuzzis and the beach meant we were spoiled for choice. We booked fantastic trips at the hotel shop where we were given a 5 star service and brilliant advice. Butterfly Beach is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to come back. Huge thanks to the wonderful staff for making our stay so special. Read less

Stolen Wedding Band From The Room!!! Butterfly Hotel is appropriately 20 minutes from the airport. There are not many restaurants near by the hotel. The property has one restaurant, not many choices but the food is reasonable. The restaurant is cashless and the credit card machine doesn't charge the bill in local currency. The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, pool is clean, some staffs are nice (Cheryl, Lynette and Stacy), there are few rude staffs and there is also a staff who is a thief (Maintenance Guy) There is no beach chair at the beach. Guest gets a clean pool towel upon arrival and has to pay $1 to exchange it for a clean towel. There isn't much to do at the hotel. The hotel needs some beautification. There is no "don't disturb sign" for the room door....Huge Red Flag!!! I would never stay at the Butterfly Hotel again, we stayed at the hotel for 5 days. Room#305 AC was leaking water and flooring the room, I called the front desk and asked for maintenance person to come take a look at the AC and I specifically told the front desk lady for the maintenance person to come while we are in the room. We turn off the AC and left the room at 1:10pm and went to have lunch at the hotel restaurant, got back to the room at 3:15pm. When I came to the room, I was told that two maintenance people came into the room. At that point the AC wasn't fix, instead wipe up all the water from the floor and the AC was turn on back. The hotel didn't obey our request when we said, we don't want anyone in our room of we are not present. My husband wedding band was on the night stand when we left for lunch at 1:10pm, upon returned the wedding band was stolen. Don't leave anything valuable in the hotel room, put everything in the safe, don't make the same mistake we made. It took us 75 trips and 11 years to realize that not all hotel/resorts have honest and trustworthy staffs. Because of this theft incident, our vacation this time in Barbados was ruined, we felt so unsafe. This matter was reported to the management and local police. What an insult, $250 was offered for a $3,500 wedding band, that is unacceptable!!! The wedding band hold immense sentimental value and would LOVE to get it back. I am 100% sure that the wedding band was stolen by one of the two maintenance guys who came into the room while we were on lunch. Butterfly Hotel needs to reevaluate their "new staff" Another day, I told Leah (lady at the front desk) that we don't want housekeeping, when we returned from breakfast the room was clean, again our request wasn't granted. Butterfly Hotel easily take the cake for the worst travel experience I had in 11 years and 75 trips. Think, think and rethink before booking your vacation at Butterfly Hotel. Read less

Dinner at the restaurant there was very limited but both pleased with the tastiness and filled us, the cocktails were lovely. Didn't get to go in the pools but did enjoy the whirlpool they had (though I think a bit much chlorine). In arriving, given welcome drinks that were lovelyyy. I loved the room we were in that got a bit of the road, view of the pool and a bit of the beach. Next time will try for full ocean/pool view. Expect mosquitos, somethings can only do so much but weren't biting us thankfully. I would stay here again and a bit longer. Read less

Great hotel and staff, found the food and drinks excellent, , if we came back we would love to pick up the hotel and move it around with us. As others have said, the hotel is in-between oistens and st lawrence gap, oistens is a shorter walk than the gap, bit the zr buses are everywhere, and will take you wherever you want. Certainly are easier using them than walking sometimes. All in all I definitely recommend the hotel, but do your research to see if the location is right for you. We had Seaview room, they were great always clean. Great hotel and if we ever return to Barbados, we Certainly wouldn't be against staying here again. Read less
