Butterfly Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

Star rating

The hotel

One of the hallmarks of any holiday in Barbados is a night at Oistins’ famous Fish Fry – and you are just a stroll from all the action (and a short drive from lively St Lawrence Gap for other nights out). Enjoy direct access to two fabulous white powder beaches laid out either side by of this seafront hotel. The iridescent blue waters of the Caribbean may be tempting, but you can also take a dip in the freshwater swimming pools – or head up to the raised circular patio for a soak in its trio of waterfront whirlpools or relax on the ample sunning areas with loungers and umbrellas. The sea views steal the show at The Reef Bar & Grill too, with its new seaside deck providing the perfect backdrop for Caribbean dishes, and for its weekly rum punch parties and barbecues accompanied by steel pan sounds. You can see why the Butterfly Beach Hotel is a great value for money resort in Barbados and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner.

Booked this hotel during our last visit to the island in December and very glad we did. From arrival the friendly staff made you feel welcome. Particular thanks to Cato for excellent housekeeping and the lovely Karen in the restaurant whose motto had to drink in even numbers made us smile. The ocean front studio suited our needs kept immaculately clean with great rain shower and small kitchenette if fancied eating in. The sound of the ocean was just delightful to send you to sleep or enjoy whilst relaxing on the balcony. Pool area was great especially if enjoy swimming and loved being able to walk on the beach and enjoy the warm sea. Food in the Reef was of good quality and well priced with snacks or more substantial dishes available at lunch and different menus in the evening which bring ocean facing enjoyed the delightful breeze. It’s in a good location to enjoy visiting the sites of Barbados 🇧🇧 either by public transport or hiring a car with a decent car park. Would we recommend - yes and already going back later in the year Read less

We were greeted with a warm welcome, and it didn't stop there. Friendly staff thought out, helpful and kind in this little gem. Spotlessly clean, and the room was excellent. If you like going to sleep to the sound of the waves, then this is the place for you, you won't find anywhere closer to the beach. The food was excellent, lovely menu and… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating A disappointing experience at Butterfly Beach Hotel, from reception to check out

We arrived at Butterfly Beach in time for dinner, the welcome from the guy on reception was frosty. There was 30 minutes of dinner time left and he said he would try to get us in. We arrived at Butterfly Beach in time for dinner, the welcome from the guy on reception was frosty. There was 30 minutes of dinner time left and he said he would try to get us in. We were offered left over burnt and dry barbecue chicken and fish, no starter or dessert. Things didn’t get better. For our 5 day stay we found the staff to be more interested in standing together and chatting with each other than tending to guests. I don’t remember one member of staff asking how my meal was or cracking a smile. They were never proactive, and when asked for something were slow to respond. I gave up asking for coffee at breakfast and just helped myself. The restaurant was like a staff canteen and the quality of the food was poor. The decor throughout is tired and overdue a refurb. At checkout we were not asked how our stay was and I didn’t feel the receptionist even cared. I would not recommend this hotel and certainly wouldn’t stay again. Read less
