Coconut Court Beach Hotel

The hotel

About as ‘seaside’ as you can get, the Blades family have called this sand-hugging spot home for more than four decades. And they chose a pretty perfect beach for their hotel — which is probably why hundreds of Hawksbill marine turtles call it home too. As you’re here for the beach, the Blades have made sure you’re never far from it, whether you’re lazing on the free loungers, watching moonlight movies on the sands, soaking in the seafront pool and whirlpool, sipping frozen cocktails at the beach bar, or lingering over candlelit suppers at Coco's. The beach itself is lined with beautiful trees to provide natural shelter from the Caribbean rays, so those that don't wish to worship the sun need not worry. It’s not just by the beach though — it’s also steps from South Coast Boardwalk which links you to an array of shops, restaurants and Rockley Beach. The hotel also features an open air restaurant overlooking the white sand beach. Above all else, do not forget to savour a Pirate Punch during one of the several 'happy hours' each day — a traditional Blades family recipe with a twist!

This place is ideal if you are looking for a beachfront hotel. It is situated by a decent sized stretch of sand. (Direct access via a few steps) The sea can be a little lively at times. Bring beach shoes as quite rocky in places. We stayed nine nights, not really long enough to take in all that this beautiful island has to offer! The room (deluxe ocean view) was large and had had a king size bed. The hotel did provide a mattress topper as the first night we were very uncomfortable. There is a small kitchen area, a safe, lots of wardrobe space and a full length mirror. The bathroom has a lovely walk in shower. Get an ocean view balcony! Unforgettable views! The breakfasts were ok. Not a lot of choice for plant based diets. I had toast or rolls most mornings . My husband had granola. We felt it expensive (£22 pp I think we paid) so £396 for 9 nights. The pool is small, but refreshing. No problems with getting a sun lounger. The bar area was a nice place to chill with a cocktail. I just didn’t like the coloured plastic tumblers they served our drinks in. We had lunch in the beach side restaurant a couple of times and it was so relaxing! Food was pretty good. The setting was idyllic and I miss that part of our holiday a lot! They have evening entertainment here too. We were out most evenings though. We used the ZR buses to get around. The bus stop is just outside the hotel. So convenient. We loved the location! We went into St Lawrence gap, and had meals at Cocktail Kitchen, mimosas and Castaways. All really tasty food. Also recommend Little Arches and Champers for a romantic meal. Just gorgeous! We hired a car and visited The Animal Flower Cave . They have a restaurant overlooking the ocean which was simply amazing! We also went to sandy lane and Paynes Bay. The sea bed drops very steeply as you enter the sea! Be very careful! We bought lunch at Masseys and ate it on our hotel balcony, Do take some Bajan dollars for taxis . Hotel has no lift. Recommend for an idyllic and chilled out holiday! Read less

Our requests before we arrived for a deluxe oceanview were not honored or offered at a rate. Renovations happening to walkway down to pool we were not made aware of before arrival, which meant we had to walk 96 stairs from our room just to get to pool(one way) several times a day. Also no entertainment or managers cocktail party as we read on their site. We loved Barbados and all we did and saw. Love the people. Read less

All staff were superb (Reception, Bar, Restaurant, Housekeeping & Hadfield the Security Officer etc.,) The hotel is served by good transport communications, essential if one wishes to visit other parts of this beautiful island. If one doesn't wish to venture too far, the hotel offers 3 x resturants offering tasty, well portioned food, accompanied by an excellent range of drinks. We wish to thank Sarafina especially for providing drinks in the evenings (and her colleagues), she was an absolute star! We'll be back! Read less

The food was fantastic, thank you Executive Chef Kelli ! The drinks were good and plentiful. Finding a place either by the pool or on the beach was NO problem at all. Plenty of lounge chairs. The beach is awesome. The pool is awesome. If one would like to venture away from the hotel there are several bus companies that go right by there. Walking to other places is no issue either. Upon check-in we were offered a rum punch. Excellent. I will likely return to this hotel. I really like it there. May I mention great people I met: Linda, Kelli, Amanda, Nakita and other staff members. Everyone very friendly and provided excellent service. One note: The rooms are on multiple levels and I did not see an elevator. Read less

We stayed here for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Although check in is at 3pm we arrived early at 1pm and were still able to check in and leave our cases at reception. The receptionist was extremely friendly and efficient and gave us all the information about the hotel that we required. We went back to reception at 2.30 and were happy to find out our room was ready. Room 50 on the 2nd floor of one of the ocean side apartments was just perfect for what we needed. It was extremely clean and spacious. It was air conditioned plus a ceiling fan kept it cool. There was a good sized bathroom with a powerful shower. The bed was comfortable with bedside tables both sides. One side also contained a white noise machine with clock. There was also a table, 2 chairs, sofa, dressing table with adequate drawer space and a good sized wardrobe with iron + ironing board stowed inside it. There was also kitchenette with a sink, a kettle, microwave, toaster and fridge freezer which is ideal. The balcony which had 2 chairs overlooked the adjacent condominiums but provided a sea view also. Overall we were very happy with the accomodation. Road noise whilst able to be heard was not too intrusive as it’s very quiet at night. WiFi was strong in the room but quite weak the further you get away from the blocks. Not really a problem as you’re on holiday so why do you need to be scrolling when you should be relaxing. We spent quite a lot of time around the pool which is smallish (15m x 5m by the looks of it) but it was very quiet the vast majority of the time. Each pair of sunloungers had a parasol and small table. There were more than enough. The whole area was clean and the pool was very well maintained. Coco’s is where breakfast was served as well as all day and evening meals. We were Bed & Breakfast and the Breakfast menu choice has either a good variety of main meals or as an alternative 2 items from the breakfast sides menu which we went for most days. There was no overindulgent buffet which was nice. You also got a glass of orange or pineapple juice, water and a pot of coffee or tea. There were some other stuff which you had to pay for such as Latte’s or Cappuccinos but the standard Breakfast was perfect, no need to go for any extras and we never needed lunch thanks to the decent portion sizes. We had a few evening meals at Coco’s and always enjoyed what we had. The choices were varied including local catches from the sea. Wednesday night was pizza night and the pizza’s were delicious. The prices were reasonable and we got a 10% discount when checking in to use for entree’s on one meal which we used on the last night. Jake’s restaurant attached to the apartments over the road provided a wider variety of meals and acted as a general restaurant and bar as well as for hotel guests unlike Coco’s so could be quite busy at times. We ate there twice and had a fantastic experience each time. Captain Charlie’s is the beach bar and served the usual selection of drinks and you could order snacks there too. We went for a drink there a couple of times before our evening meals at Coco’s. It was lovely to sit there watching the sun set over the sea. The beach area is large, clean and sun loungers are provided. We didn’t really go into the sea due to it being very choppy when we were there but some days it was calmer and people seemed happy to be in there. There is a small hotel shop near the reception which sells snacks, drinks and souvenirs. There is also a concierge desk to book trips/tours. In that office were the clean toilets for use whilst you’re not in your room. Finally the staff. What a wonderful set of people they are, real ambassadors for the hotel. They work hard, always with a smile on their faces and make everyone feel special. We also spoke with Linda who is one of the owners on a couple of mornings over breakfast which was nice as so few hotel owners seem to be seen in our experience. All of the above combined means we will be revisiting this wonderful island full of wonderful people and will definitely stay at this special hotel again. Phil & Jo Read less
