The hotel

This small resort is split into two hotels and occupies 300 ft of south coast beachfront. It doesn't matter which hotel you stay in, as you are free to use the facilities at both. This means you can enjoy two swimming pools, an oceanfront restaurant and, of course, a selection of complimentary non-motorised water sports along the lovely white sand beach. Coral Mist and Blue Orchids Hotels have the added advantage of being only a 5-minute drive from the shops, bars and restaurants of the lively St Lawrence Gap.

This was a stay for my fiancés 50th birthday. I Emailed in advance to request a high floor room, which we always do in any hotel for quiet and a sea view. Our high floor couldn’t be met but the lovely receptionist did say it’s a great room you have and she was right, although the odd scraping of chairs above was why I request high floor. If you’re a light sleeper the rooms in block B are noisy, we struggled the first couple of nights, the bathroom and kitchen do have open vents in the wall and the road noise can be loud. The room had everything you could ask for and more but is dated, even just a lick of paint would be good, but the bed is comfortable, shower is good and view is great. I have a couple of suggestions, the bar and restaurant closes if nobody is there by 8pm so if you return from an evening out there is nowhere to go. Why not do something to encourage guests to have a drink before they go out, maybe a happy hour or set up a cocktail area up on the Blue Orchid decked area to watch the sunset. Maybe these things have been trialled and were too quiet to accommodate in which case fair enough. Also the sargassum once dried out attracts flies, there are plenty of staff to tend to the gardens, why can’t they rake it up? There is a large supermarket close by so be sure to stock up on drinks you might need oh and food I guess! The restaurant food was just ok, however the fishcakes were the best I’d tasted. We ate at many restaurants and Worthing Food Court a few times which is good for a cheaper night out. Don’t overlook Corky’s close by, my fiance had a great steak there. The location really makes this hotel value for money and yes I would return but would only recommend it to friends if they manage their expectations of its basic charm. Read less

The views were amazing location was fantastic as we were near a food court which had a variety of food trucks every day, supermarkets no far and walking distance to Chefette!! The rooms were spacious and views were everything with the beach right there if people are taking over the pool (which happened when we were there) but we didn’t miss out as the beach was beautiful. The only down sides; bathrooms need updating, parking is very tight and some female staff need to be a friendlier. I would definitely stay again and look forward to it Read less

We had a wonderful stay at Coral Mist, a lovely rustic hotel in a fantastic location in Worthing. Our room was a studio type I believe (A210) which was spacious, clean and had lots of storage/hanging space, a comfortable bed, kitchenette area and adequate bathroom. The balcony directly overlooked the stunning beach, and we went to sleep every night listening to the waves, which was lovely. The staff at the hotel were all so friendly and they couldn’t do enough for us; all very helpful. We didn’t use the restaurant so cannot comment on that. The hotels location couldn’t be better in my opinion. Bus stop outside, lots of beaches within walking distance, Rockley one way and Worthing the other, many great bars and restaurants in close proximity, Worthing Food Court just down the road (just over 5 mins walk) as was the supermarket and St Lawrence Gap was about a 15 minute walk. We had a fabulous holiday and loved Barbados and all its charm and will definitely return to Coral Mist in the future. Read less

Good points: great location with beautiful quiet sandy beach and easy access to sun beds, range of restaurants and supermarket nearby, very friendly staff, room kept clean. Bad points: rooms in need of modernisation, beach is lovely but the sea was very rough so couldn’t go in the water. Went to Carlisle Bay, which has calm water but very crowded.
