The hotel

Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

Just home from a wonderful 12 day stay in Mango Bay. Our first stay in Barbados and what a way to do it. Lovely friendly hotel. The room we were given was nice and spacious for my wife, I and our daughter. The beach is gorgeous, we visited a few different ones around the island and thought we were definitely spoilt with the location of the Hotel. Beautiful sandy beach, clear calm waters. Plenty of food options in the restaurant which was regularly al le carte for lunch and dinner, which we liked. Made meal times feel more of an occasion. Food was always varied of a good quality and well cooked. Easy bar food was available too for those who wanted to stay by the pool. The bar too was well stocked with named brands with a good cocktail list that the bar staff would happily pour liberally to order. We visited with our daughter and from the moment we arrived the staff were incredible with her, made her feel like a celebrity. Whilst all staff were fab particularly loved Shemar, Damien, Rayden and Ronald around the bar and Donnel, Sabrina and Cly-ann in the restaurant. Celebrated my birthday during our stay and again all staff on the day went the extra mile to make it special. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Read less

Just home from our second visit to mango bay. We loved it last year so decided to return. This year was even better Great welcome in reception with a rum punch and quickly checked in. We had a fab room by the pool the same one as the year before. Our room was always cleaned well and we even had a bottle of bubbly and card waiting for us. We were well looked after by all the fantastic staff. There are too many to mention but big thank you to Damien Rayden Anderson and Ronald at the bar and the lovely girls at the restaurant particularly Maxine who always made us smile. The water sports boys were fab and looked after us too thank you Sham!! Breakfast buffet is good and they make a fab fresh omelette! We enjoy the a la carte menu at lunch and dinner always delicious and the choice is good. There did seem to be more buffets this year than last year which we were not so keen on as food would run out sometimes if you were a later booking. We would prefer less of these. The lunch menu from the bar is also very good to have between 12-4 Drinks were great so much choice and every cocktail you can think of. Water sports included and there were trips you could take with the hotel and a few activities during the day. Evening entertainment was varied with singers etc which were pretty good. Some nights were quiet. The addition of the pool table in the games room was a big hit with the teens this year!! We met friends from last year and made many new ones. Overall a perfect holiday. Will we be back? Oh yes can’t wait to return. Read less

We have had a wonderful relaxing 10 days at Mango Bay and are already wanting a return visit. Before arriving we were a little concerned about some of the negative reviews but can confirm there is nothing negative! The staff are simply amazing, all welcoming and make the stay a fun and relaxed one. A special call out to Rayden, Damien, Andersen kept us fuelled with the most amazing cocktails and drinks - always with a smile and laugh. The food is a wonderful mix of buffet and Al la carte plus the relaxed beach menu. There are snacks and afternoon tea on offer so we were never hungry. Yes we visited a few local restaurants which were amazing. So a nice mix. Calma Bay and Zacchios are great to visit and a nice walk away. The beach is stunning, offering great water activities and chill time and some truly beautiful sunsets. The evening entertainment was mostly chilled singes who were all very good. Our teenage boys - 13 and 20 have loved every movement and we all feel it has been one of our best holidays ever! Yes there is a hotel been built next door - never bothered us at all and to be honest you soon forget about it! So ignore all the negative comments and visit Mango Bay - it’s a really wonderful place!! Read less

We went to Barbados somewhat out of season but still more pleasant and warmer than the UK! We wanted to stay in Holetown and had chosen to stay at Mango Bay after reading previous feedback and we also like to stay at hotels with All Inclusive for convenience when on holiday but will still eat and drink elsewhere whilst away. We arrived on a Saturday and were welcomed with a cold towel and refreshing cocktail and best of all a very pleasing fast and efficient check-in which included a brief tour of the hotel and amenities. We had taken advice from past reviews and had paid for a room upgrade to a beach view room and this was the right decision. Our room was ground floor sea view literally facing the beach about 30m from the sea, we had a veranda outside the room on which the beach guys had a pair of wicker sunbeds with comfortable/quality cushions ready for us each morning. The room was comfortable and spacious and kept cool with good air con, The bed was spacious and very comfortable and the room was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent and attentive housekeeping team, who it seemed checked on the room several times a day, ensuring clean towels, fresh supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits and a regularly restocked fridge of cold drinks and water. They also provided the nightly turn down service and they also provided a mosquito zapper and bottled water on ice.on the Sunday night, once I'd dressed appropriately (you have to wear a shirt with a collar for every evening meal and long trousers on "a la carte" evenings such as Sunday). I can't say that changing into trousers and a shirt straight off an 8 hour flight is ideal but on the flip side it is kind of nice that everyone dresses up for meals. The down-side of arriving on Sunday is that the Standard rooms back onto a street with a karaoke bar which stays open til about 3:30am blaring out music which you simply can't block out even with earplugs, so it's not the nicest way to spend your first night when you're knackered and just want to go to sleep. Thankfully it's only on a Sunday night! The bar has a good selection of drinks, all known brands such as Gordon's gin, Johnnie Walker whisky, Disaronno and so on - even the red and white wines and lager are drinkable! There is also a selection of cocktails (beware they add syrup to them all) but they ran out of Pina Colada on the first day and didn't get any back in til the following Thursday which is a bummer if that's your cocktail of choice. The bar staff just keep providing whatever you ask for, as well as wandering around the pool periodically asking if you want drinks and handing out chilled face-towels. The food choice is ok but not great, it alternates between "a la carte" lunch and buffet dinner, then buffet lunch and "a la carte" dinner - the choices are mainly chicken, pork and fish although we did also have lamb shanks and roast beef on two nights. They also have a bbq night once a week so you can have your chicken barbequed instead of having it baked! What it's missing is a salad bar where you can create your own salad (they usually have at least one pre-made salad on offer but it often contains some weird ingredients), fresh fruit at lunch and dinner, nicer breadbuns (theirs seem to contain sugar) - and shellfish. We love prawns and other shellfish but the only appeared once on the menu in a fortnight. On the plus side you can always ask the chef to make something different, and every time we asked for something different we got it (didn't try asking for steak or lobster though lol). There are about 14 wooden sunbeds around the pool and 20 or so plastic ones on decking by the beach (all of which are thickly padded) and a virtually unlimited supply of unpadded plastic ones for the beach. Getting a sunbed by the pool isn't easy - 14 sunbeds don't divide between 150+ guests - and they have a "no towel reservation" policy - but the pool opens at 6am so you just have to sneak down and grab what you can and then go back to bed! The sunbeds on the decking get a lot of flies buzzing around but if that doesn't bother you then it's a great area to sit in - again provided that you are early enough to get one. Otherwise you're on the beach (which is lovely if you like beaches, just avoid the pushy guys trying to sell you Aloe Vera and carved coconut shells). You also get free use of the water activity equipment such as canoes, pedallo, one-person catamaran etc, and you can also book in for the free weekly glass-bottomed boat trip and catamaran trip to see the turtles. There are a lot of positives about the Mango Bay Read less
