Overall, most of the staff were very welcoming, especially Danielle, Krystal, Nicholi, and Chad. The resort itself is gorgeous. The rooms are beautiful, and honestly, the pictures do them no justice. However, given the size of the property, I feel it would be better classified as a boutique hotel. It is very small compared with the average Royalton property. The welcome gift was a small bottle of rum. We are accustomed to receiving the Royalton totes, tumblers, and some type of resort memorabilia, so we were a little disappointed that there wasn't more of a welcome experience. As a Caribbean couple traveling to a Caribbean resort in Barbados, we were also expecting more of a genuine Bajan experience. Unfortunately, the resort felt very geared toward European and Anglo visitors, with very little Caribbean or Barbadian character incorporated into the overall experience. There was no strong sense of originality or local culture that made us feel like we were truly experiencing Barbados. The outside activities were also limited in variety, with most options centered around aquatic activities or additional paid experiences. Some of the prices seemed quite high, such as $60 USD for only 15 minutes of jet skiing. The food options were fairly generic, with the typical Italian, Asian, steakhouse, etc. selections. Although the resort advertises 13 restaurants, they operate on a rotation schedule, so only about 2–3 restaurants may actually be open at any given time. Breakfast was another issue. If you're not an early riser, by around 10:30 a.m., the selection is noticeably picked over. Hunter Steakhouse was good, while Moi Aussi was mediocre at best. The cocktails were very hit or miss. Although most of the staff were pleasant and accommodating, service could be extremely slow. It often took a long time to receive both meals and drinks. Overall, the resort is beautiful, and there were definitely some highlights, particularly the rooms and the staff members who went above and beyond. However, for us, the experience lacked the Caribbean authenticity and variety we were expecting from a Barbados resort. Nice resort, but I wouldn't return.

“Royal Day at Royalton!!!”

First time to the Royalton for me and it was on a Day Pass . The overall experience was quite extraordinary. The General Manager , Michael came and introduced himself personally which I thought was a nice touch and he and the staff was quite attentive throughout the day making sure myself and my friend did not lack for anything. One slight downfall for me however was the morning bfast when we arrived. It was a Sunday and there were quite a few guests dining, however the buffet itself needed to be replenished and it almost looked a bit under staffed at the time. The omelette station did take some time although the chef did acknowledge and appologize for the wait. In my opinion it has great potential with the selection that I saw but I'm hoping the next time I come this would be improved. Overall I definitely think I will try to return another time hopefully to spend a bit longer than a day as there are still quite a few restaurants and different cuisines I am wanting to try on my return.

“Staff was very rude, catty, and extremely unprofessional”

I went to Royalton Vessance Barbados the last week of October with my mom and we were excited to visit the country, and this was a brand new 5-star resort. Sadly, coming to the resort was the worst decision I have ever made and will likely not visit a Royalton ever again. The resort is very new and as a result there are some growing pains any organization must overcome to improve things. When we first arrived, there were many problems with things not working such as the general wifi and IT related equipment in the room. Also, the mini bar in our room was completely empty. We were hungry when we first arrived and came at a time when lunch was closing and dinner was just starting which requires formal reservations. There is no dinner buffet, and the 24-Hour Sports Bar is only open for dinner and not 24 hours and serves three-course meals, which is odd for a sports bar. Most of the Staff were rude and blew us off except for Sade a Guest Services Manager that was quite helpful and even requested Burgers be made by a restaurant so we could be fed. Sade was world class and very helpful and quite professional and is great at her job. We also were provided with great service by Bartenders Andre and Nicolai. I was more of the staff cared like these three. Sadly, after being helped by Sade the rest of our stay was quite miserable as the Staff was quite rude and very catty and unprofessional. We went out to eat at the French restaurant, steak house, and Italian restaurant and it took forever to get our food when the place was empty. Some nights we left early after waiting two hours and not even getting to the desert because the staff would blow us off and not check on us. My mom ordered two steaks, and they both contained a lot of fat and were of very poor quality. My mom went to the Bartender and tipped the person after the drink was made and received a dirty look from the bartender So, I understand Barbados is wealthy, but it appears tipping is not super common. The resort was also quite dead and there were not many people there. Half of the activities that were advertised did not actually go as planned. The service at the resort was very slow and it would take like half a day and multiple follow ups to get items such as toilet paper, towels, wash cloths, water and other minor items. We were always dismissed by staff and would get the feeling we were burdening them. On the Thursday before we left, we spoke with a bartender by in the pool area by the Italian restaurant that I had never met and knew the exact drink my mom ordered. I found this was quite strange and it made us think since we had arrived at the resort that we were blacklisted and targeted because something either slowed down all the time such as getting food or something would always go wrong. The bartender did confirm that one of the other female bartenders told her that we were difficult people and we were made not to feel welcome at the resort. So, this obviously confirmed our suspicion that we were being targeted as the staff was very catty and unprofessional and it seemed staff when out of their way to make our stay miserable. On the Friday night before we left, we last ate the Steak House one last time. We made reservations for 5:30pm and were the first ones in the restaurant. My mom got a steak again. We got our salads after a long wait. Another couple got there at 6:00pm and promptly got their appetizers and meals before we got ours and left the restaurant at 7:00pm. We complained that we had not received our meal as it was 7:00pm. The waiter said they made a mistake with the computer system that sent the order to the wrong table. Sadly, there was always some excuse while we were at the resort, and something always came up as to why something could not be done. Our food came out and my mom’s steak was a very fatty low cut of meat. Finally, we were approached by Sade from Guest Services that helped us on the first day regarding our latest issue at dinner. We told her about our miserable stay and poor service we had received at the resort. She said the resort was going to launch an investigation. We told her we were scared to leave our room the last couple days of our stay because of the catty and unhelpfulness of the staff. We told her how we felt blacklisted by the resort and the confirmation we received from the bartender. We stayed at the steak house for two hours and did not receive dessert for the third or fourth time. We left in disgust again. The resort will be able to verify this because they make you sign a form after eating dinner even though the bill is zero dollars. I don’t understand why they do this as it is an all-inclusive resort. Sadly, since last spoke with Sade we never heard back from the resort as it appears they do not care and we are probably blacklisted. We gave the resort our contact information such as phone number and email address when we first arrived at the resort. I would recommend going to a more professional resort and an actual 5 Star Resort such as the O2 Beach Club or Sand Piper up the street. Sadly, I was originally going to go to the O2 Beach Club but changed my mind because the Royalton Vessance was brand new but shiny objects are not what they always appear to be. I think the Royalton should launch an internal investigation, so the resort is not run like mean girls in high school. Do yourself a favor and never book a stay at the Royalton Vessance Barbados.
