A great stay at this hotel. 20 ish mins from the airport, check in time a little later than other hotels at 4pm, but a very quick change and left luggage and headed over to Johnny Cool beach bar opposite for a few Banks beer on the beach. Check in then at 4 was fine, welcoming and friendly staff, Germaine was great, and helpful, but the 2 ladies who work on security stood out for me as excellent, always smiling, and welcoming, and whilst waiting for our taxi home on Mothers Day, we had free entertainment in the form of the security lady on duty, happily singing along to the music from the restaurant! haha Rooms were great, ours overlooking the pool, really comfortable beds, and spotless, great job by the team. Around the pool was lovely, would be a good idea for the Rhum Stop to maybe offer drinks service around there, as the place generally empty in the day, and there were always many people around the pool, just a thought...however their prices for drinks were considerably higher than others nearby We ate at Kandy bar/restaurant for breakfast, and some dinners, great prices and good food, also went over the Daddies bar, lovely Roti and behind that the "square" was great on certain nights, I think Sun and Tue, and the fish cakes were amazing from a little bar there Turn right and keep walking many bars and restaurants, Sharkies being a regular. Also turn right, and walk to top of the road for busses to Bridgetown and Oistins Fish Fri....AMAZING! on the Friday night, a must visit!!!! Read less

Well what can I say Time Out is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, there was a dead cockroach at the end of the ground floor corridor for the whole 9 nights we were there and still there on the morning we left. Well what can I say Time Out is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, there was a dead cockroach at the end of the ground floor corridor for the whole 9 nights we were there and still there on the morning we left. The cleaners cannot say they didn’t see it because it was huge. The linen got changed in the bedroom and towels changed but that’s about it. There were cup stains on the bedside table all week and a stain on the sink that wasn’t cleaned all week. The staff were unpleasant and rude the only members of staff that smiled and were nice and helpful were Alex on reception and the lady ( forgotten her name) on reception who has got employee of the month this month. Security never smiled or greeted you with an hello just glared at us. Staff in the Rhum Stop where we had breakfast were rude and the bar staff need some training in customer service because theirs was appalling. We were left waiting ages to be served and when we did they took ages to get the drinks. We went to the hotel Le Roy every lunchtime and called in on an evening before going to the bars on the Gap and the staff and service were second to none. If I go back to Barbados I will be staying in the Hotel Le Roy. Read less

There are many positives about this budget-friendly hotel - the location is perfect as it's just across the road from Dover beach and very close to the bars and restaurants in St Lawrence Gap. The hotel has a lovely, well-kept garden and pool area which most of the time is very peaceful. The room we booked was a pool-view, it was clean and the beds were comfy. It got cleaned daily, fresh towels provided and the sheets were changed every few days. The staff were generally helpful and friendly but there were one or two who were not as friendly. A bit of training in customer service wouldn't go amiss as it was not consistent. The hotel cleaning staff were always very cheerful and friendly. Some reviews have mentioned noise, so it is worth bearing in mind that this hotel is in a lively district where you should not expect calm and peace all through the night. There are a few noisy cockrels in the gardens and all around the whole area! They crow from around 3am. There was loud music quite often till around midnight. But we did expect this and we came fully prepared with earplugs! The noise is not the hotel's fault, and a member of staff did have a word with some noisy people one night who were creating a commotion late one night. Earplugs were a godsend - you cannot control the noise but you can get a good night's sleep if you adjust your expectations and come prepared :) The restaurant (which is not owned and run by the hotel) is called the Rhum stop. We were very disappointed by the prices and quality of the food. There are many better places nearby to eat. The one thing that I would suggest is that the pool area has better access to the bar/snacks - on one occasion a staff member took some drink orders but this only happened once. All in all, this is a good budget hotel with mostly friendly helpful staff. Don't expect Sandals-style luxury or absolute silence at night and you won't be disappointed. Read less
