This review comes from someone who had never visited a Sandals resort before and booked this trip as a last‑minute holiday change — and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. We travelled as a party of six (three couples), flying from the UK to Grenada and staying in the Pink Gin Ocean View rooms, which are classed as Club Level. From the moment we arrived to the moment we reluctantly left, Sandals Grenada exceeded every expectation.
The flight was smooth, with a short stop in St Lucia for around an hour before continuing on to Grenada, which was only another 30 minutes. Grenada’s airport is small, which actually works in your favour — you’re off the plane, through immigration (about 20 minutes), and collecting your luggage quickly. Once outside, you simply turn right to reach the Sandals desk. They check your name, load your luggage, and assign you a small shuttle van. People say the resort is a five‑minute drive from the airport. I assumed this was an exaggeration… it isn’t. It’s genuinely the quickest hotel transfer I’ve ever experienced. The shuttle isn’t operated by Sandals, so tipping is optional.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm “Welcome Home” and handed cool towels — heavenly after travelling. Because we were Club Level, we were escorted to the Club Lounge (beautifully air‑conditioned) for check‑in and offered a drink of our choice. Naturally, I chose champagne. We had already completed most of the check‑in details via the Sandals app, so the team simply reviewed our restaurant reservations, weekly activities, and contact details. The staff were exceptional — friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our stay perfect. Every time I popped into the lounge during the week, they remembered my room number instantly.
We arrived at our Pink Gin Ocean View room after dark, so we couldn’t see the view until morning — but it was worth the wait. Peaceful, stunning, and exactly what you want from an oceanfront holiday. The room was spotless, with daily housekeeping and restocked toiletries. The Club Level minibar included spirits, beer, champagne, soft drinks, fruit juices, and bottled water. Fun fact: the Coke in your fridge is bottled locally on the island. The toiletries were genuinely excellent — shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturiser, sewing kit, shower cap, and more. You could easily pack light and rely on what’s provided. One of my favourite rituals was sitting on the balcony at sunrise and sunset, listening to the ocean.
Our group quickly fell in love with the Tipsy Turtle bar. The guys met there every evening while the girls finished getting ready, and the service was outstanding. Jarvis and Stephenson, the bartenders, became more like friends — laughing with us, recommending drinks, and introducing me to Grenada’s 10XO rum (which I now desperately wish I could buy in the UK). During the World Cup, they even opened the bar early so guests could watch the match. It wasn’t staffed, but they made sure no one went without beer. Kesron also deserves a shoutout — always smiling, joking, and serving great food.
For breakfast, Spices buffet became our go‑to. Every morning offered something slightly different — pancakes, hash browns, herbed potatoes, pastries, fresh fruit, and themed days such as English, American, Asian, French, and Caribbean. The chef who made my pancakes and eggs was incredible. For lunch, you’re spoilt for choice: hotdogs near the quiet pool, pizza and patties near the main pool, and Neptune’s by the beach, which served prawn linguine, burgers, wraps, jerk chicken, fish cakes (the fish cakes are unreal). Portions are generous, so eating lunch early is wise if you want room for dinner.
Dinner is where Sandals Grenada truly shines. Le Jardinier (French) was elegant and flavourful — French onion soup, snails, steak, lamb shank — all rich and delicious. The glass walls let you watch the wildlife outside; we even saw a little possum wander past. Butch’s Steakhouse was incredible. Dellise served us both nights and was wonderful. The fillet steak was so tender you didn’t even need a steak knife. Neptune’s in the evening was our favourite meal of the entire trip. Ocean breeze, sound of waves, and food so good we asked to personally thank the chef. Trevon kept the beers flowing and made us laugh all night. Tip: try the seafood broth and the steak with lobster. Kimonos (teppanyaki) was a full show — fun, interactive, and delicious. Our chef had us laughing nonstop, and my husband became fiercely competitive trying to catch egg pieces in his mouth. You’ll leave absolutely stuffed. Cucina Romana (Italian) was fresh and comforting — Caesar salad, arancini, chicken parmesan — all excellent. We didn’t visit Soy, but you can grab sushi here before heading to another restaurant for your main. Restaurants close on different days, so check the schedule.
There are several pools, but the main two are the quiet pool near the beach and the lively pool near reception with activities, quizzes, and a swim‑up bar. We enjoyed both — making friends at the lively pool and relaxing at the quiet one later in the holiday. Mario and Tyrell are the best servers at the pool bar and will make sure you get involved in the activities too! Drink service was constant, and the ocean is perfect for snorkelling. We brought our own gear and saw squid, an octopus, and lots of fish.
We booked the river tubing excursion at the on‑site shop — quick and easy. It’s a 30‑minute drive, then you float down the river in rubber rings while staff guide you, help you if you get stuck, and entertain you with jumps and flips. Watch out for the “If You’re Happy and You Know It” surprise.
There’s a brilliant free boat trip you can join that gives you a deeper look into Grenada—especially St George’s, where Sandals is based. If you haven’t done it before, or if this is your first time visiting Grenada, I genuinely recommend it. We booked ours through the Club Lounge, and it was so easy.
You meet down at the Water Activities Centre, hop straight onto the boat, and off you go along the coastline. Definitely wear sun cream and bring water—the sun hits differently once you’re out on the water.
The two guys running the tour were honestly fantastic: friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. They talked us through everything from local landmarks to community life, and they answered every question with so much pride and detail. I especially loved hearing about the island’s conservation efforts—how they’re protecting wildlife, restoring natural habitats, and preserving Grenada’s unique ecosystem. They also shared stories about the island’s history, culture, and the role St George’s has played over the years, which made the whole experience feel even more special.
It’s such a simple, relaxed excursion, but it gives you a real sense of Grenada beyond the resort. A perfect little highlight.
The onsite gift shop offers an impressive variety of items—clothing, shoes, mugs, snacks, drinks, locally made chocolate, candles, and soaps. Most purchases are tax‑deductible too, which feels like a welcome bonus. Our group ended up picking up all sorts of things: a hat (after realising we’d left ours at home), jewellery, local hot chocolate, chocolate bars, crisps, drinks, candles, and beautifully scented soaps. Some products are a little pricey, but overall—aside from the clothing—I found most items reasonably priced for an onsite shop.
If you’re looking for a truly local gift, the resort also hosts a weekly market featuring local vendors. You’ll find handmade items, spices, jewellery, artisanal crafts, and plenty of unique pieces that make perfect souvenirs.
And then there’s the patisserie—completely unforgettable. The coffee is exceptional: smooth, rich, and full of flavour. I’ve never been an iced‑coffee person, but after trying theirs, it became a daily ritual. Each morning I’d grab an iced coffee and a small pastry, then wander to a quiet spot around the resort—often the pier—where I’d watch the sunrise and listen to the ocean. Throughout the day, the patisserie transforms, offering sandwiches, cakes, ice cream, milkshakes, and a whole selection of desserts. Everything I tried was consistently delicious.
I genuinely believe the staff make this resort what it is. We’ve travelled to many destinations, but we’ve never met people so warm, funny, attentive, and genuinely interested in talking to guests. They are a credit to Sandals.
Leaving Sandals Grenada was so hard — none of us wanted the holiday to end. If you have a later flight, you can continue enjoying the resort all day. They offer wash‑rooms on site where you can shower, freshen up, and change before heading to the airport, which makes your final hours feel like bonus holiday time.
Final tips: you absolutely do not need a butler to get a sunbed — there were plenty every day. Fill in your immigration form online around 48 hours before flying. And honestly, just book this resort. You won’t regret it!
