My Review of my Stay at Sunrise! We stayed a group of 11 for 6 nights. I’ve stayed at several resorts in Mexico, and while this one had its highlights, it left me wanting a little more. A detailed review for those who like me love reading everything before arriving ☺️ Overall Impressions The resort is beautiful and MASSIVE truly stunning. But overall, I felt it was a bit overhyped. The food and drinks didn’t quite hit the mark for us, and when that happens, it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the stay. That said, if you have kids between 5–12, this place is a dream. So many activities going on for that age group. I had read it was great for young adults too, but I wouldn’t say that was our experience. I traveled with my adult kids (18 and 21), and they did enjoy some things, paddle boarding, the FlowRider, beach volleyball, Sky Bar and the Club. But overall, they felt the resort didn’t offer as much energy or entertainment geared toward their age. It definitely caters more to younger children. Room Small but cozy. Beds and Pillows were super comfy, first time i traveled without my own pillow and didn’t regret it, and our view was beautiful. Room service was fast and easy to schedule through the app the night before. Pools THE highlight of the resort. Both Sunrise and Nizuc were fantastic. We’d head down around 9:30 AM and always found chairs. I preferred Nizuc side is calmer, fewer kids, faster service, and loungers with cushions. Drinks Liquor selection was Good! but yes, the mixed drinks are super weak. Even our friends who barely drink had to ask for doubles and still felt like they were just OK. I stuck with Prosecco and Aperol Spritz, which were perfect for me. Also enjoyed the Espresso Martinis. Food Honestly, the food was the biggest letdown of our stay. There was plenty of variety and everything looked fresh, but most dishes lacked flavor. We were especially disappointed with the Mexican options, and I say that as someone who always looks forward to trying the Mexican dishes when I visit resorts here. I know people are quick to say, ‘You need to eat off property for real Mexican food,’ but I’ve had amazing resort meals in the past. This time, it just didn’t hit. Favorites: Coffee shop everything was delicious Brick oven pizza Poolside Ice cream omg best Ice Cream in my life Fried calamari at the pool Churros at Nizuc Pool and Night Show Sunrise Jerk chicken and everything else at Smoked Best dinners: Carvao best service received, Gildardo was our Server Palapa Asadero Pier 8 Best breakfast: Los Caporales Nizuc Vibe + Entertainment Live music in the lobby was a beautiful touch. We enjoyed the Sunrise lobby, and my kids went to the Sky Bar a few times to play pool but it was never super busy or lively. The nightclub situation is a little confusing: It rotates between Sunrise and The Grand, they have a sign in the lobby and one of my boys read it. They were able to get in after 10:30 PM on those nights. Spa LOVED it. Highly recommend. Service Good, not exceptional. Esther and Luis at the Sunrise Lobby Bar were incredible 👏🏼 4th of July Celebration This was a huge highlight! Beautiful setup on the beach with tons of tables, bar service, desserts, live music, and fireworks. So strange though no one at the resort seemed to know anything happening yet it was such a well planned event with most of the employees serving. Other Notes Download the Palace Resorts app it’s your best shot at knowing what’s going on. Golf carts are available and a big bus for Lobby to Lobby. Seaweed? Yes. I posted drone shots in the group showing what it looked like. Final Thoughts It’s a beautiful resort with a lot to offer, especially for families with younger children. For us, the food and vibe just didn’t compare to other resorts we’ve loved in Mexico. Still, there were moments that made it worth the trip. Hope this helps the next person doing deep research like I was! Read less

And it makes you feel like you are the only guest. I absolutely love the golf carts and drivers, most importantly Thomas. He makes you feel like family... so nice with my 91 year old mother and all the grand babies . He has the cutest smile and has a sense of humor! The same goes for Rueben...what a sweetheart. And the new hiden Gem 💎 Florencio. Flo rider:) The Circus was so cute and really improved the menu, which was a plus. My kids loved the French restaurant. We had a great trip! Book it! Read less
