The hotel

Located in the small town of Puerto Morelos, situated between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, and nestled along a fabulous beachfront, this spectacular low-rise resort is ideal for couples or families looking for an Unlimited-Luxury®, All Inclusive holiday in the Caribbean. It’s built in stunning Mayan architectural style, fitting in well with the dazzling tropical location. Rooms are exceptionally spacious and have balconies or a terrace which overlook the tropical gardens or ocean. You’ll never run out of things to do or food to eat here with a whopping five gourmet a la carte restaurants, but don't feel the pressure - 24-hour room service is included in the Unlimited-Luxury® so you can eat at 2:00am if you fancy! There are standout facilities for adults and kids alike; the Dreams Spa offers seven treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy circuit with sauna, steam room, showers, Jacuzzi, dynamic pool and an outdoor relaxation area. And whilst you're there, time flies for the kids at the Explorer's Club with board games and video games to keep them busy, sandcastle contests and arts and crafts. But the best part is you can enjoy the splash park and the towering water slids all together - because who doesn't love a little thrill in between relaxing! If it's just the two of you, we recommend opting for an Indigo Preferred Club room for those added luxurious benefits!

Very nice hotel. Excellent service. Monica and her team from entertainment made our vacation more fun. Shout out to the DJ too, good music. Our best person was Miguel from the bar pool. Amazing person, funny and hard working! Did not gave up on us, and we had a large group of family.

We stayed here for 10 nights and there’s nothing really we could complain about. We really enjoyed our time here and I’m glad we didn’t listen to the bad reviews prior to booking. Food/Drink I booked this hotel based on the reviews I had seen. Although there were some bad reviews, I am glad I didn’t listen to them as we were quite happy overall. At resorts like this you get what you pay for. Yes, some foods were bland but there was a large variety at the buffet and the majority of things were tasty. I know the food will always not be up to everyone’s standards but I’d say some of the reviews were quite harsh. There isn’t a booking system for any of the restaurants however if it’s full at the time they give you a buzzer. The longest we had to wait was an hour for the French restaurant, the food was nice however the main course was a little cold. The Asian restaurant and the BlueWater Grill were our favourites. The drink during the day definitely didn’t feel as strong as the night time ones which is understandable or everyone would be in bed before dinner time. Entertainment There was always such a big variety of pool/daytime entertainment. The entertainment staff were always really friendly and organised especially Joe and Tony. We took part in at least a few activities everyday. There is a bike tour that runs twice a day that’s takes you into Puerto Morelos town and back, the whole trip takes an hour and a half which is good as it gets you out of the hotel. We went for a couples massage which was so good and we got the use of all of the spa facilities such as the sauna, steam, jacuzzi etc before our massage. Rooms Our double room with the tropical view was really big but ever so dated. It smelt slightly damp on the first day we got there but it seemed to disappear after that. Housekeeping were in everyday to make the bed and replace the towels. I requested the sheets to be changed on the app on the morning of day 6 out of 12 and they were changed by the afternoon. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others! Read less

Visited Dreams Sapphire June 19 through 26 as a couples vacation. Our first impression of the resort was very positive as it looked well kept. Ignacio the bellman offered us cold towels to refresh ourselves and it was appreciated as the area gets very hot and humid this time of year. We book booked Preferred, tropical view suite. The suite had some issues (i.e.: A/C, leaky bathroom faucet, door lock, TV and remote. Most of the room issues were quickly dealt with, the others we just sucked it up as it did not really affect our stay. The layout of the resort is good and well kept and most people will have no issues getting to where they want to go. We spent our days by the Preferred pool as it was adults only and much more quiet than the main pool which we did not visit. PRO TIP: you need to queue up at the bar area at 9:00 a.m. to reserve the free cabanas for the NEXT day. Omar the Preferred poll concierge did a wonderful job handling the bookings and was always available when you needed assistance. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas if you're not fortunate enough to secure a cabana. Beverage service was also very good at the pool. There were many scheduled daily activities, but we just lazed around the pool with a book on most days. Restaurants and food overall were good, not great. You will not go hungry here but you are not going to be blown away, either. Besides, you are probably not paying top dollar (for such resorts as Excellence, Atelier, The Grand, etc.). The staff here are wonderful as they try very hard to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be. Here are some of the exceptional staff members that we encountered on this trip: Ignacio the bellman. He was always asking if everything was going well and offered some good advice. Leonardo at Preferred Club check-in. He was very prompt in helping to get our room issues fixed; Sandi and Bryan from maintenance who quickly arrived to fix the A/C and replace the defective TV. They were in and out within a matter of minutes; Luis the server at the Bluewater Grill (sometimes he works at Bordeaux) who provided outstanding wait service. He made our dining experiences very enjoyable; Moises the server at the Italian restaurant, Portofino. Moises was also an excellent server. He was engaging and made our dining experience very enjoyable; Irek the server at the French restaurant, Bordeaux. Irek was knowledgeable and provided wonderful service for our dinner. NEGATIVE NOTE: We have visited many all-inclusive resorts and Dreams Sapphire is the first one that allows children and casual attire (shorts, t-shirts, etc) in their French restaurant. The ambiance that they are trying to creative with their menu to the elegant restaurant decor does not make for fine dining with their current policy of allowing children and casual attire; Alberto (Happy Feet) and his partner, Omar at the World Cafe buffet. We asked for their section every time we visited. Both provided quick and attentive service and that's what you want at a buffet -- in and out quickly, but never rushed; Karina the bartender at the Preferred Lounge. She always greeted us with a smile and provided great service (she remembered our drink of choice). OVERALL POSITIVES: Great staff, decent food, easy to navigate, common areas are clean and in good shape although the resort is starting to show its age. NEGATIVES: The air conditioning in the restaurants seems to be insufficient as all the restaurants we went to were either warm or very warm. Yes, I know it's Mexico in June; The beach -- full of sargassum. It's not the resorts fault, but at least they could make an effort of cleaning it as some other nearby resorts do. In closing, this is a solid mid-tier resorts geared towards families and couples. We would likely visit this resort again if the price were right. Read less
