Our 5th stay at a Royalton resort met all of our expectations. We were looking for a smaller, quiet, secluded resort to relax in. Truly a 5 star experience! The staff were exceptional - it was wonderful to find that the GM was Cesar Eslava who had been a manager at a previous Royalton stay. He made us feel like we were family, as did the rest of the staff. Our butlers, Fernando and Vanz made sure we had everything we needed and kept in easy contact with WhatsApp. Staff who made our stay extra special were bartender, Alberto, bellman, Kalhed, barista, Mely, and Diego who went out of his way to make a special coffee for us when Mely had a day off, restaurant staff, Catherine, Samanta, Manolo and especially Ricardo.
We had a king bed suite on the third floor. There was plenty of room, the bed was very comfortable, linens were crisp and white, everything was super clean and lots of hot water for showers. Our deck looked out over the beach and the water - it was a spectacular view that we very much enjoyed.
Resident parrot, Sophia, charmed everyone as did Cosmo, the resident peacock.
The food was exceptional - fresh fruit and vegetables, quality menu selections. Highly recommend the beef tenderloin steak at K’Uhul and the rack of lamb at Cote de Costa, lobster at Qin Qin was delicious! No reservation required at 2 of the restaurants or the grill. No waiting in line to go to a restaurant.
The pools were perfect - one quieter pool, a saltwater pool and a busier pool by the main part.
There were various activities during our stay - cooking, coffee making and drink making classes, a traditional Mexican game night similar to bingo, entertainers around the pool during the day and we only saw one evening entertainment by the pool bar. The butlers were open to suggestions for more activities.
There is a tennis court and a spa, but we didn’t use those services.
There is a problem with sargassum (seaweed) at this time, but they are doing everything possible to keep it under control. If you are a beach person you will be disappointed as you can’t swim and have limited use of the beach area. At times the smell can be really yucky. It is a problem in most of this whole area of Mexico, usually not this early in the year. We found that the pool areas were very comfortable and it didn’t really affect us. We did manage to walk on the beach but felt very badly for the the managers trying to keep Mother Nature at bay. They had it mostly under control but no one was swimming in the area. Not sure if it is a problem every year or just at this time…
We never left the resort during our week long stay - it had everything we were looking for - peaceful, calm atmosphere, excellent food and service. If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic retreat this is the place!
