My mom and I recently stayed at El Paraíso de la Bonita, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about our experience.
One of my favorite things about the property is how intimate it feels. Unlike many large all-inclusive properties, this one has a completely different atmosphere. It was originally designed as a hacienda, and you can still feel that throughout the property. It feels warm, peaceful, and welcoming, making it the perfect place to truly disconnect and relax.
Another thing I loved was how connected you feel to nature. Between the beautiful landscaping and the wildlife throughout the property, it felt like such a special place. I even made friends with Cosmo, the resident peacock, and Sofia, the beautiful scarlet macaw, who quickly became some of my favorite parts of our stay.
What made the biggest impression on me, though, was the people. Every associate made us feel genuinely welcome. I especially loved how they would place their hand over their heart while speaking to us and say things like, “Welcome home.” It wasn’t just something they said. You could actually feel that they meant it, and it made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
I also have to mention the food because it completely changed my expectations of an all-inclusive experience. Instead of large buffets, the restaurants offer thoughtfully curated menus made with fresh, natural ingredients. Dining at Qin Qin and K’uhul felt like a fine dining experience, with beautifully prepared dishes and smaller portions that allowed us to try a variety of incredible flavors.
The highlight of our stay was Chef Javier at Qin Qin. I have allergies to fish, shellfish, tree nuts, and seeds, so traveling can make dining stressful. Once Chef Javier learned about my allergies, he immediately found ways to make me feel included instead of limited. He created a personalized seven-course dinner just for my mom and me, designed entirely around what I could safely eat.
Some of my favorite dishes were his Tom Yum-inspired soup, sushi made with sweet plantain, avocado nigiri, and several dishes showcasing molecular gastronomy techniques that made the experience even more unique. What meant the most to me wasn’t just how delicious the food was. It was the time and care he took to create an experience specifically for me. Anyone with food allergies knows how easy it is to feel like an inconvenience, but Chef Javier made me feel special. That is something I’ll remember forever, and to me, that’s what true hospitality is all about.
I also want to recognize German, the restaurant manager, who was incredibly thoughtful and proactive in making sure we always had everything we needed. Thank you as well to Enrique and Kenny for taking such great care of us throughout our meals, and to Catherine, who gave us a beautiful handmade origami butterfly on our last night. It was such a thoughtful gesture and the perfect way to end our stay.
Thank you to everyone at El Paraíso de la Bonita for making us feel so cared for. We left with amazing memories, new friendships, and a place we’ll definitely return to.
