I wish we could rate each part of our holiday, as for the most part, it would be a 5. However, sadly TUI need to really update the advert for this hotel.
It DOES NOT have a beach, and I can't imagine it will ever have one back like it shows in the pictures. Access is blocked off as the Sargassum has destroyed every part of the area and completely eroded the beach away. Just one tiny row of about 8 Umbrella stands remain right next to the hedge line, and while we were there at least 4 were lost to the seaweed. Unfortunately the amount of sargassum that is there has just been left to rot and the smell is repulsive. It hits the minute the transport doors open.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon and on our first night, our rings and other jewellery turned completely black. The TUI rep then informed us it was because of the sulphur in the water. Nowhere in the resort, or any info from TUI explained this. The rep told me to clean it once home with bicarb, so I will attempt this, but I am not holding out much hope.
TUI'S reply to my emails outlining these issues is disgusting to be honest. I did research the area and knew about the sargassum before arrival, but not one thing is mentioned about the devastation it has caused now. And my jewellery being destroyed, they told me to claim on my insurance. This is NOT acceptable.
On check out, and when picking up people from another hotel, their Rep was with them, and came on to the coach to wish them all well and goodbye. We had none of that from this hotel's rep. Which was disappointing.
The restaurants were hit and miss, and although we did not travel with children, it was very apparent that the food choices for children were almost non existent. Evening entertainment was pretty rubbish aswell.
On the plus side to this, we found the rooms lovely, everywhere was very clean and the staff were amazing. We honestly cannot praise the staff enough. They made our stay absolutely fabulous and we enjoyed our time in the pool and at the bars with everyone we met. It is just really sad that a beautiful hotel in a lovely location is not as advertised and I can imagine it will struggle if they cannot sort the sargassum issue out.
