The Bequia Beach Hotel is the largest hotel on the Island with around 60 rooms. We chose one of the beach front rooms, which is well worth the upgrade if you enjoy being on the edge of the beach and waking up to the ocean every morning. The room was well appointed with a really comfortable bed and a nice seating area where you can relax and watch the waves. Outside was a small veranda with sun chairs and then you are literally a few steps from the sand. The grounds overall are really well kept and similarly the public areas are all in good order. Service was excellent from the greetings at reception to all the waiting staff and maids etc. Things to be aware of are as follows: The beach is on the Atlantic side of the island and therefore the sea is pretty rough at times. There is also a major seaweed problem (not just here) and it made the beach unusable. Even walking 5 minutes down the sand to the snack bar (which is nice) was unpleasant as the whole sand was covered and there were a lot of flies etc - obviously not the fault of the hotel, but I did read somewhere that they clear the beach of seaweed, but this didn’t happen during our stay. The option then is to take the free taxi to Jacks bar and the lovely beach which is on the Caribbean Sea. The great thing about this is that the bar is owned by the hotel and all things can be charged to the room etc and beds are complimentary for hotel guests. The owners were regularly present around the hotel and made sure they checked in with all the guests, which is nice to see. A few reviews I have read mention that the breakfast is average. Personally we found it absolutely fine, with numerous hot choices and some daily changing dishes. The continental buffet part had all the usual breads, fruit yogurt and cereals etc. Probably what stopped us giving the hotel a full 5 stars was the quality of the evening meals on our first night we ate at the Blue Tropique Italian restaurant and to be fair the meal was distinctly average. The main Bagatelle restaurant was slightly better, though still not great. In summary we really enjoyed our time at the hotel and would recommend it to others. Read less

It takes quite a bit of effort to get to Bequia ( we used SVG Air from Barbados) but if you are looking for a small island (7 square miles) authentic Caribbean experience, then Bequia and the Bequia Beach hotel are fabulous choices and well worth the travelling. Under the watchful eye of the very experienced manager Katie and Rima in guest relations, we experienced 7 days of wonderfully warm hospitality. We arrived in need of rest and relaxation and that is exactly what we received, nothing was too much trouble, every meal (hotel, Sand bar and Jacks) was well presented and delicious. We walked a lot…and Bequia doesn’t have much flat road, it’s very hilly. There is a shuttle to the Caribbean side and Jack’s bar but we preferred the walk (about 30-35 mins). Port Elizabeth is loud and chaotic especially when the ferries arrive and full of local character. There was a fair amount of seaweed on the beach in front of the hotel, which I appreciate the hotel try to manage and windy weather meant the sea was too rough for us to swim in, however the two main pools were lovely, always clean, and never ever any requirement to get up pre dawn to put a towel down! Rima arranged a private charter to Tobago Cays for us and three other guests. It was the most perfect day, fantastic company, superb lunch and swimming that close to the turtles was a privilege and lovely memory. We walked up Ma Peggy which is not an easy hike (about 1.5 km each way but lots of boulders to clamber over and it was pretty slippery after overnight rain, but try it if you can as the views are insane). Thank you to everyone for looking after us so well, and to those we chatted to, we loved meeting you and hearing your stories. Katie, you are a super star 🌟 Karen and Martin Read less

Just returned from this charming hotel. We always go away for my husbands birthday and May is quite quiet which was actually really nice. Katie the manager from Palm Island has been at the BBH since January and she has brought her enthusiasm with her along with some of the Palm island staff who were affected by Hurricane Beryl last July. We had a Junior Plantation suite which was up some steps but only a few. The room was massive with a comfy bed, settee, lounger and seat on the big balcony and loads and loads of cupboard space and a walk in wardrobe which also housed the fridge and safe plus two umbrellas and mozzie sprays....I walked into the bathroom and their were two showers and also a free standing bath as well as two sinks and a wicker chair...the bathroom was also massive!!! The fridge was stocked with beer, water and soft drinks as we were on the All inclusive package. There were 2 restaurants and 2 beach Bars, one along the beach from the hotel (Sand Bar) and the other Jacks bar which was on the Caribbean side of the island. The hotel offer a shuttle to Jacks Bar. Food and drink was included in the AI package so no having to pay extra. Restaurant food was well presented and there was variety and daily specials. A couple of times at lunchtime we had pizza and club sandwiches which were not on the menu...but you just ask and they are happy to do something different. The staff are all very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Katie is always hands on, none of this sitting in an office out of sight. The owner Mr M originally from Sweden, also interacts with his guests and is was a real pleasure talking to him about his life. We made loads of friends while there and we all had a great time together. Music was provided by some good groups and the atmosphere was just right.... Thank you to all the staff for making sure our time there was relaxing, Katie, Nya, Rima, Ciara in particular. I must not forget the gardeners who do such a brilliant job in the heat and the lads trying to clear up the sargassum....a thankless task....you are all legends!! Rita and Clive H Read less
