The Liming Bequia

Bequia, St Vincent and the Grenadines

Star rating

The hotel

One of the last bastions of Caribbean exclusivity, the islanders of Bequia know how special it is – which is why the owners of this beach retreat only invite a handful of guests to stay at any one time. With just nine luxury villas, one chic Junior Suite, and the five bedroom mansion house to pick from, each with its own infinity pool or hot tub, it has the feel of a private and very exclusive estate. This elite edge continues at The Liming’s dining room, where seafood is fresh from the ocean and many other ingredients are island-sourced – and it’s all served on the sea-top terrace (or in your villa or suite if you fancy even more privacy).

We came on a day pass for $75 for towels, 2 course lunch and three drink plus use of equipment. The place is absolutely beautifully kept and the staff were lovely, we had a great young man walk us up to an amazing view point. Food was really nice. There seemed to be no one else in the resort while we were there and it was wonderfully quiet.… Read more

Paradise on earth...really! We initially booked into the Junior Suite, room 10 which is gorgeous, with the most stunning views of the sea, and other islands, right from your bed. That room is on two levels with stone-steps in between and unfortunately my elderly husband got up in the night and fell down the steps, causing an injury. After a trip to the rather rustic hospital, with the aid of the local police, we returned the same night. By the morning word of the accident had got around and Ian, the GM and staff could not have been more wonderful. Housekeeping head, Cellas, had her lovely staff move us and our belongings to a safer room, with no steps and it's own pool, where we lived out the remainder of our stay in great comfort and with no further incidents! Fabulous in every way...the bedroom, living space, pool, patio and views in our new room (#8) were like being in the tropics in the 1920s. Total luxury and just enough fellow guests to enhance rather than spoil the ambiance! Most of all the staff, lead by Ian and Ops Manager, Shardelle, are beyond wonderful, kind, thoughtful and incredibly helpful, without having to be asked. For example, Lois, a member of the housekeeping staff, is also a geriatric nurse and gently and competently helped my injured husband on with his sweater. Aside from making excellent drinks, (try his passion-fruit daiquiri) Esau, the bartender has a friendly, humane demeanor and took it upon himself to suggest our room-move to Ian and then frequently stopped by to see how we were doing. I also need to mention James, the tall security-man, who seemed to pop up each evening after dinner, without being asked with an offer to escort us back to our villa, with his steadying support and powerful flashlight, and would stop by frequently during our stay to check on our welfare. Guests tend to stay mostly in and around their individual villas, so when you're on the beach, you have it virtually to yourself. Grounds staff do a great job of keeping the Sargassum seaweed at bay, the garden and pools are tended to daily and everything inside and out is pristine and quietly luxurious. The food is quite marvelous. Mostly we enjoyed delicious individually made full breakfasts on our villa's patio, the eggs were perfectly poached and the daily fresh juices were exotic and refreshing (especially the raspberry juice). The chef and his staff prepare an appetizing and delicious menu on a different theme each day...the food is fresh, looks beautiful on the plate and is served by the most friendly wait-staff shout-out to Antonia and Lanique particularly. The dining room, virtually surrounded by water, has incredible views and a soft breeze wafts through...it is a place to sit and savor the great food, view and ambiance and indulge in the art of doing nothing. All in all, in spite of the accident, we had a magical time at The Liming on Bequia. Selfishly, I almost don't want to tell anyone about it, so that it can stay as serene and old-fashioned as it is, but on the other hand, like-minded people, who enjoy tranquility, beauty, good food and appreciate kind competent staff, deserve to know about The Liming and to experience the fine art of doing nothing at it's best. We will be back! With thanks to all the lovely Liming staff...we appreciate you! Read less

The wait staff are very welcoming and attentive. The restaurant was busy, but we felt well taken care of. The fish sandwich and the roti were both very good, and the homemade Red Velvet cake is to die for. My passion fruit daiquiri didn't really taste of passion fruit, but was lovely just the same. We found the price of San Pellegrino at $18. US a… Read more

We have recently returned from our 2nd visit to The Liming, and what an improvement! Ian, the new GM has really got a grip of the catering, and service, making this a wonderful location. One feature of the local charm is the cats that live in the gardens on the property. We discovered that a local charity BAPA – The Bequia Animal Protection Alliance, working alongside the local vet, Dr. Saskia Gooding – exists in nearby Port Elizabeth. Whilst at the Liming we were happy to set up a regular donation with them, specifically to look after the cats, and to administer an ongoing neutering programme. The value of this was underlined by the fact that a young cat, who was visibly pregnant, was found dead on the property the day after we had left. Dr. Gooding has agreed to update us regularly on her own website, as to how she finds the health and welfare of the animals going forward. Fellow guests, Please do join us along with Dr. Gooding in your support for this project, in the hope that management will bring the Liming, and all its staff on board as well. With very best wishes to All at The Liming! Read less
