The hotel

You could be forgiven for thinking the Apsara is only for water babies, with its beachfront setting, infinity swimming pool, villa pool, two kids' pools, pool villa upgrades, water slide and of course, the obligatory Jacuzzi. There’s the Thai cookery classes, Thai boxing, spa treatments, bike rental and kayaking to name but a few!

This is a beautiful hotel, with amazing staff - helpful and friendly. We had the AI option which we enjoyed. One of our rooms was a swim up room which was fantastic. The location for us was perfect, quiet but accessible to the local towns via taxis. We took a boat trip to the Surin Islands, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Had such an amazing day.

Just had 2 weeks AI at apsara Hotel, and it is the best holiday I've ever had. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded to a private villa with a pool and we weren't disappointed. They had made an anniversary decoration on the bed with a bottle of champagne for our wedding anniversary. Room service was delivered as we arrived late evening and It was amazing. We spent the 2 weeks relaxing at the infinity pool right next to the sea with amazing views. There was the beach bar which you could visit twice for a meal and get drinks anytime until 11pm. The restaurant behind the pool was al a carte, and the food was amazing. The same menu for dinner and tea but plenty to choose from including stone baked pizza, steak and Thai dishes which are highly recommended. There was also a restaurant and bar up at the villas. I got a buggy everyday from the front to our villaandd back as I can't walk far. Just call reception and they send one. The rooms were cleaned everyday and staff were so friendly you felt like royalty. Went to bang niang market 3 times. I recommend going about 5, either 300 bhat each way in a taxi or on the bus, which is the same price. Bought so much amazing stuff. I had 3 massages at the spa in the hotel at £12 each and I felt amazing. Went to see the elephants near by where it's 100 bhat per person and you buy fruit baskets to feed them. Best experience ever. All I can say is our first time in Thailand has given us the bug to return. If you like peac, stay at the Apsara. You can do trips or laze around. We went during rainy season but it didn't spoil it at all as we had a few showers mainly at night and a couple of storms. All I can say is it doesn't rain in the bar! I highly recommend the strawberry cooler, which is like a slush puppy (alcohol free) and the cocktails were fantastic. All the staff couldn't do enough for us and I want to thank them enormously. Took our 16 year old boy and he loved the pool and playing pool the wifi was spot on too. The hotel provides fresh pool towels everyday just swap at reception. I give it 5 stars and just to say is khàawp khun khâ. Learn hello and thank you as it is a sign of respect that should be world wide. Thank you again Apsara. Read less

Best nights sleep I’ve had in months. I booked this trip as a last minute deal flew out two weeks later, I knew the hotel was trustworthy as it had a 4.6 Trip-advisor score but it has been so much better than expected. The resort is beautiful, sitting on the clearest and cleanest beach I’ve seen, the resort sits on two sides on a river that has sunrise and sunset and mountain view. I arrived at 10am, after 22 hours or travelling, thinking I was going to have to wait 4 hours to check-in. They not only checked me in within half an hour but I was also upgraded from the resort to the villa; I am aware that I was very lucky and was mostly due to being a solo traveller and coming during off season. There is also some construction going on, mostly upgrades and refurbishments, not that it has impacted my stay, in fact I haven’t really much at all. The villa are little sanctuaries. They are calm and quiet and closed off enough that you don’t really hear of anybody nearby and the beds, I could talk to you about the beds all day. I have slept like never before to the point where I thought I was wasting my trip, but for me that’s what I wanted, to relax and recharge. Watching the rain through the double doors of my villa has been my favourite thing. You should be aware that the resort is secluded, it’s about a 10 to 15 minute car ride to the nearest shop and no real way to walk anywhere significant but there are hotel shuttles to the Main Street and market three times a day. I also booked a couple day trips that picked me up from the resort and if they didn’t, the lobby will call a taxi for you. There has literally not been one member of staff that has not greeted me with a smile. The Apsara staff are lovely and warm, it does feel like they enjoy being here as well. If you want escape this is the place, it can be you’re at your own little oasis. And I’m saying this as 24 year woman on her own, I’d definitely come again. I really could go on but I think I’m already getting preachy Read less
