Every element’s lavish, with its three exquisite tree-fringed pools, sumptuous spa, gym, and seven bars and restaurants all adding to the fantastical feel. But nothing’s quite as regal as its grounds, where tropical greenery spills over balconies, tumbles through gardens, and comes to rest on the pure white sands of its beach. The effect’s a serene setting for garden tours, coconut leaf weaving, and traditional dance classes – and for Gecko Club’s child-focused island experiences. Inside its nine hectares, a dramatic temple-like structure splits to reveal an elaborate lily pond festooned with water features; Balinese guest rooms divulge garden, pool, or beach scenes; and the incredible bamboo web of its double-decked brasserie opens up to hypnotic Indian Ocean views.

“Some positives but not a 5-star resort.”

This review is rather lengthy, but it expresses our honest assessment on a number of subjects in a fair and objective manner. Firstly, I endorse the views of others when they praise the friendliness of staff from the Gardeners right up to Management. We paid AU $600 per night to stay in a Club Palace suite through Luxury Escapes who handled everything from start to finish in a very proficient and professional manner. This was an ‘all-inclusive package’ which provided us with a number of benefits such as personal driver to and from the airport, 2 x 50 min massages (which were great), exclusive access/ breakfast at the club lounge, free drinks at certain venues/ times plus other perks. We paid through the nose for drinks at restaurants though. The suite(s) (I'll explain plural later) we occupied were clean and generously sized with large balconies, comfortable beds and Balinese decor. They could however benefit from some refurbishment especially in the bathroom areas. The pool area. On two consecutive days we witnessed ‘ bun fights’ over the ‘ownership’ of pool loungers. Some people collect and then deposit their resort towels over loungers and then disappear for ages. When they return their towels are gone and others have taken the loungers. This leads to arguments and bad language witnessed by all and sundry. This behaviour is hardly the stuff 5-star resorts are made of and re-enforces the comments of other guests over the lack of pool sun loungers at this resort. If more loungers can’t be supplied then IMHO management need to have clear, readable signage in various languages at the Towel pick up counter, that sun loungers cannot be ‘reserved’ and that steps WILL be taken to remove towels and paraphernalia if loungers are left unattended for 15 or 20 minutes. This should include lunch time when loungers should be made available to other guests instead of sitting unoccupied for long periods. Management take note: that not everyone wants to sit on the beach especially bearing in mind the comments that follow. Don’t expect solitude around the main pool either. Kids shouting and screaming in the main pool do nothing for relaxation although to be fair their noise did dampen the noise of workers carrying out grinding works to the steps of a poolside restaurant. Tranquil it’s not! On the subject of noise, it seems some of the hotels along the beachfront have a penchant for loud noise. Just as soon as we had arrived at our suite (4107) after a long and tiring journey, we were met with a truly awful cacophony of noise from an Indian wedding party at the Sofitel which is right next door. Of the first 4 nights we were unable to enjoy peace and quiet on our balcony up to 10pm due to noise from functions at this hotel, the Sofitel and the Westin. We eventually got moved to a quieter room and It's my guess that many rooms here suffer from noise related issues. Again, hardly the stuff of a 5-star resort. On a plus point, the spa area was very nice. A lap pool, no noisy kids, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, change room with lockers and a pool bar with gentle relaxing Balinese music provided a welcome relief from the main pool and beach. The grounds are substantial and generally beautifully landscaped and immaculately kept although the grassed area around the spa lap pool needed attention and the sun lounge cushions were shabby at the time of this posting. The beach itself was kept clean although you may find litter floating along the shoreline particularly after bad weather. There were a good number of loungers if you can’t find one by the pool. A scenic outlook to the impressive Mount Agung and Penida Island. It’s advisable to use footwear in the sea with sea urchins an apparent issue. However, smoking is an even worse issue. Apparently, there are designated smoking areas but no signage to indicate ‘no smoking’ or ‘smoking permitted here’. Smoking needs to be banned on the beach (and indeed the whole resort) for the health and benefit of all guests. The resort Management needs to address this issue. The restaurants offered good service and fare although the Luxury Escapes ‘all-inclusive package’ only covered half the cost of the more expensive dishes. Also as mentioned the price of drinks was exorbitant. AU $65 for a bottle of very ordinary plonk. The guy with the ponytail offering live music at the Tamarind restaurant plays the guitar very well. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say it.....he can’t sing! In closing my rating is a comparison to many hotels and resorts that we have visited worldwide. Being generous I’d rate this as 4 stars. “Balinese cooking class”

Best experience , Fily and her team of staff were simply amazing and so much fun for the whole family . We experienced real Balinese cooking first hand and then we got to eat it . Chef was so patient even with the little ones . Superb experience . Highly recommended for all .

“Living the True Resort Life”

From the moment we arrived, the resort felt welcoming, safe, and luxurious. The property sits right on the beach and features a massive pool, making it perfect for relaxation. The buffet was excellent, with plentiful options to suit all tastes and dietary preferences. We stayed in a beautiful two-story room with a winding staircase. It was spacious and unique, but definitely better suited for those without mobility issues, as the constant trips up and down were a bit of work. If that’s a concern, I’d recommend requesting a different room type. What stood out most was how self-contained the resort was. Between the variety of restaurants (we especially enjoyed the Mexican spot and the beachfront dining), the gym, spa, bikes, tennis, and more, you truly never need to leave the property. There’s even an onsite money exchange and concierge to help plan excursions if you’d like to explore beyond the resort. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Bali Collection for shopping, which was a nice bonus. This was our second stay in Bali (our first was in Ubud), and being in Nusa Dua made our departure much more convenient since the airport is closer. We also appreciated the layered security—it’s behind two checkpoints, which made us feel very safe. The front desk and bell staff were wonderful, gracious, and attentive, reflecting the warm and authentic Balinese spirit. Overall, Nusa Dua Beach Resort truly felt like living the resort life—comfortable, secure, and filled with everything you could want for a memorable stay.
