Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa - Handwritten Collection

Nusa Dua, Bali

Star rating

The hotel

Living up to its ‘authentically Bali’ mantra, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa - Handwritten Collection feels like a reincarnated Balinese palace. Every element’s lavish, with its three exquisite tree-fringed pools, sumptuous spa, gym, and seven bars and restaurants all adding to the fantastical feel. But nothing’s quite as regal as its grounds, where tropical greenery spills over balconies, tumbles through gardens, and comes to rest on the pure white sands of its beach. The effect’s a serene setting for garden tours, coconut leaf weaving, and traditional dance classes – and for Gecko Club’s child-focused island experiences. Inside its nine hectares, a dramatic temple-like structure splits to reveal an elaborate lily pond festooned with water features; Balinese guest rooms (including Butler-served Club rooms) divulge garden, pool, or beach scenes; and the incredible bamboo web of its double-decked brasserie opens up to hypnotic Indian Ocean views.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff are lovely and friendly. The hotel rooms are starting to show their age. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. The pools are great, however an issue with all the sunbeds occupied by 8.15am. It was very windy when I was there so the beach was not an option.

Rooms are spacious, staff are helpful. The hotel ground is beautiful and expansive. Breakfast buffet is pricey but worth a try at least for a couple of days - could use more variety in changing menus so guests don’t get bored when they eat everyday. Breakfast buffet is pricey but worth a try at least for a couple of days - could use more variety in changing menus so guests don’t get bored when they eat everyday. Buildings are worn out with patchwork. Housekeeping service was decent - not five star level. There should be more resort activities too. The Friday night dinner show with fire dancers was good. The Cafe at Mulia buffet has so much more varieties. The beachfront restaurant with Mediterranean food was not bad - kids enjoyed bread and pizza. Read less

Wonderful service by a very friendly Rista at the Kwee Zeen restaurant. She seats us very efficiently and she was very friendly during our recent trip to Bali.
