The hotel

This hotel blends contemporary design with traditional Balinese architecture. Design-led and very stylish, the Alila Ubud is a secluded hillside retreat renowned for its dramatic infinity pool with amazing views, which appears to float over the valley below. Its lush gardens, secluded courtyards and terraces create a wonderfully intimate and peaceful atmosphere. The Spa Alila nurtures body and mind, and sources many of its spa ingredients locally in the Balinese foothills, and with the therapists using ancient asian healing techniques and age-old beauty recipes you are sure to feel rejuvenated and refreshed after a visit. If you wish to get out and about there is a leisure concierge that will help you discover more about this fascinating area by trekking or cycling locally or organising cultural learning with visits to Balinese dancing events.

I have never seen such beauty, but the resort is off the beaten path, a lil sleepy- more for romantic couples who want to spend the day lounging by the pool and gazing into each others eyes. I would highly recommend it for honeymoon or anniversary trips. The staff was incredibly gracious and kind and always went out of their way to make us feel at home. If you are looking to unplug from it all, then Alila could be great. We were looking to experience more of what Ubud had to offer. Read less

I must say that our experience in the Alila Ubud was one of the worst stays we’ve ever had in a hotel. Considering that we were on honeymoon, this is even more disappointing. We booked a Villa (Valley Villa) and when we got there it was full of insects (inside bed included) and several lizards were spotted inside room also, besides the room was not very clean. We have asked for a change of the room and we were moved to a different Villa but honestly it was quite the same, insects everywhere and a giant lizard (size was like an arm of a person) was spotted on the roof of the Villa while we were sleeping, we spend there 2 nights and asked for a change of room. We were hosted then in a regular room with concrete ceeling so we were able to avoid lizards on the room but insects were constantly in the room and inside bed. That change of room was a downgrade on the booking coditions we initially reserved but was the only option offered to try to avoid animals in the room (which was not reached). In exchange for the downgrade we were just offered a massage and 2 breakfast but not the refund of any amount which I think should be offered as 3 of the 5 nights we spend on the hotel were finally in a regular room and not in a Villa. We understand that the hotel is spotted in the nature but I believe that a 5 stars hotel cannot stand to the bad cleaning conditions of the rooms and the insects and other animals found inside the room. Most of this problem I believe is because the poor maintenance of the hotel, as doors and windows dont close properly which I find wreckless considering the wildlife of the spot. Some rats/mice were spoted also during the checking in the lobby. Staff is great and always at your disposal and food is also fine. My wife could not sleep properly during all of our stay and we did not enjoy for a minute the hotel during our honeymoon (kind of ruined because of what I’ve said). We were not feeling safe, anything was very clean and the problem with insects was constant; we felt the staff was not understanding the situation and considered that as normal but as I said I believe that this cannot be considered normal in a 5 stars hotel having the brand Hyatt, even if its located in the wild. After Alila Ubub we were in other locations of Bali and none of this happened. Read less

Amazing beautiful place, staff are fantastic. Only slight issue would be rooms are a little tired and need a bit of a touch up although very clean and nicely furnished. However everything else was fabulous, pool is beautiful, views are amazing and the staff could not do more for you.

We enjoyed both restaurants and were impressed by the choice and standard of meals. All the staff we were met were extremely professional but also very friendly, the ladies in the downstairs restaurant sang happy birthday to me with a cake which was very thoughtful! We loved the monkeys and they are not aggressive despite some reviews, you just need to remember they are wild animals and not pets. Without a doubt we recommend this fabulous hotel. Read less
