“An oasis of calm with exceptional service”

We have been returning to Hyatt Regency Kyoto for over 11 years, and it remains one of our favourite hotels anywhere in the world. Having stayed in some wonderful hotels on our travels, we would comfortably place it among the very best.
The location is excellent, opposite the Kyoto National Museum, not far from Kiyomizu-dera temple and within easy reach of Kyoto Station. It makes a wonderful base for exploring, while offering a peaceful retreat after a busy day exploring this wonderful city. There is such a warm, friendly atmosphere here — a true oasis of calm.
The beautiful wooden interiors reflect the skill and craftsmanship for which Kyoto is known, giving the hotel a distinctive character. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail is fantastic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the showers are simply the best — I would happily take one home! Across all our stays, we have never had an issue with noise or heard neighbouring guests through the walls. It is wonderfully peaceful and tranquil.
The service is exceptional. Staff are consistently friendly, attentive and thoughtful, making you feel welcome and looked after without anything feeling intrusive. Standards have never slipped over the years, and that consistency is one of the reasons we keep returning.
Dining is another highlight. The food is full of flavour, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, with plenty of variety. The emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients adds to the pleasure of staying in a city so renowned for its food. The chefs and restaurant team deserve enormous credit.
For the quality of the accommodation, food and service, we consider it excellent value for money. Hyatt Regency Kyoto has become a much-loved part of our visits to Japan, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

We recently visited Kyoto and chose the Hyatt Regency, and it proved to be an exceptional decision. Beyond its convenient, central location, what truly sets this hotel apart is the extraordinary level of personal care and service.
A special note of gratitude goes to Ms. Thiri Naing, whose warmth and expertise made our stay unforgettable. She initially managed to secure an upgrade for four days of our stay, which originally required a room move for the final two nights. However, through her proactive efforts, she was able to keep us in the same upgraded room for our entire stay without the hassle of moving. Her 5-year dedication to the Hyatt brand shines through in every interaction, and team members like her are precisely why we continue returning to Hyatt.
The concierge team also went above and beyond when my wife developed a sudden cold and sinus issue. They promptly arranged an appointment at a local Japanese clinic, making the entire medical process smooth and quick. Impressively, the clinic even followed up with us over the next week to ensure her recovery was on track.
