“One of the best DoubleTree hotels in the world”

One of the best DoubleTree hotels in the world Absolutely outstanding hotel. In my opinion, DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka could easily be a benchmark for other hotels of the brand worldwide. The location is excellent, but what truly makes this hotel exceptional is the service. The entire team delivers hospitality at a level that is rare to find — professional, warm, genuine and consistently focused on the guest. A huge congratulations to the management and every member of the team for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. A very special thank you to the Executive Lounge team, whose service was simply phenomenal. In particular, I would like to recognize Ms. Yuzuki Nobori, who was outstanding throughout my stay. Her professionalism, warmth, attention to detail and genuine care for guests perfectly represent what hospitality should be. Yuzuki, I wish you every success on your journey in hospitality. With your attitude and talent, I would not be surprised to see you become a General Manager of a Hilton hotel one day. Hilton needs people like you. Thank you once again to the entire team for an exceptional stay. “Nice hotel, Good location”

This is a relatively new hotel near Osaka Castle, which means it has great views over the castle and its grounds but some hiccups when it comes to customer service. The room is designed with efficient use of space and with modern, minimalist Japanese decor. It has everything one needs for a comfortable hotel stay. That said, the rooms might be too small if two people are sharing it.

I stayed for one night at the DoubleTree Osaka Castle for the Tenjin Matsuri as the hotel is perfectly located along the river where the boat procession would take place, is only about 10 minutes walk from Sakuranomiya Park where I had a reserved seat for the Tenjin Matsuri boat procession and fireworks, and is only one train stop away from where the Tenjin Matsuri land procession would take place. I was upgraded to an Executive Castle View King room based on my Hilton Honors Diamond status and was given Executive Lounge access. However unfortunately I was not able to experience cocktail hour at the lounge as I was out at Tenjin Matsuri activities the whole day. However the lounge did look large and comfortable. The view of Osaka castle from the lounge and from my room was incredible - you have an unobstructed view of the whole castle complex and can see the castle donjon lit up at night. Generally rooms on the castle view side of the hotel are more expensive but during the Tenjin Matsuri, it was the river view rooms that were the most in demand and most expensive. There was a window at the elevator lobby on the floor where my room was located and I could clearly see the river from there and in fact could see the tail end of the Tenjin Matsuri boat procession from there. My room was compact but well equipped. As the hotel is fairly new, everything in the hotel is quite modern. The bathroom was well designed and beautiful. Overall, the room was very comfortable for my one night stay. I had the breakfast buffet at Restaurant Sen and was extremely impressed by the selection of food. The variety seemed to go on and on. There was a kushi katsu station with fried skewers of chicken, lotus root and interestingly, red ginger. Next to the kushi katsu, there were Korean pancakes on offer. There was another counter for Osaka pork katsu ramen, a soft serve ice cream maker, Japanese curry too of course. In short, I could easily have been happy staying at the Doubletree Osaka Castle and having the breakfast buffet for several days and would probably have been able to find different things to try each day. Service is generally very good and, as mentioned in many reviews here on Tripadvisor, a friendly lovely lady called Aki seems to greet each table on being seated to welcome them to the restaurant, and then gives each table a hand made little card with a greeting from her before they depart the breakfast buffet. Her English is fluent and her smile constant - one more plus for the Restaurant Sen breakfast buffet. Overall I enjoyed my brief stay at the Doubletree Osaka Castle and would definitely consider staying again in the future. It is less convenient than my standard Hilton Osaka located right at Osaka station, but is only two train stops away from Osaka station so not that inconvenient. The train station is a short easy walk from the hotel. However as other reviews have noted, there is not much near the hotel so one would have to go out to the train station for some small restaurants, or take the train one or two stops for more dining options.
