We have just left the Lotte Hotel Busan after three nights, and it was such an exceptional stay, that I felt compelled to share my experience.
There were initially a few issues with our reservation, as some information had not been passed through correctly, despite us having paid for a superior room and pool access. However, this is where the difference between a good hotel and a truly great one becomes apparent. The staff handled the situation with genuine professionalism and warmth. They were immediately apologetic and, more importantly, went out of their way to put things right.
As part of the resolution, we were given access to the Club Lounge — and what a pleasure that was. Breakfast was an impressive buffet, complete with an egg chef, followed by afternoon tea and, in the evening, cocktails from 5:30–8pm. As we were spending our mornings and afternoons exploring Busan, those evening cocktails were a particularly welcome way to unwind.
Our room was beautifully appointed, with a sumptuous marble bathroom and a wonderful sense of quality throughout. The hotel manages to combine classic luxury with an impressive level of service and attention to detail.
Even a relatively minor issue with connecting to Netflix was dealt with promptly. A member of staff came to our room and set us up with a Chromecast, which worked perfectly.
Throughout our stay, every member of staff we encountered was friendly, courteous and genuinely helpful. That consistency of service is what really stood out.
In fact, one of my only regrets is that we won’t be returning to the Lotte Busan at the end of our trip. After such a high standard of accommodation and service, I suspect the next hotel has rather a lot to live up to.
