Our second stay at Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok, and once again a very pleasant experience.
This time we stayed for 2 nights in room 1910. We chose the hotel mainly because of the beautiful garden pool and the view of the Chao Phraya River. The garden pool area has a great atmosphere and feels like a small oasis in the middle of busy Bangkok.
Right across the river is the large shopping mall ICONSIAM. The hotel offers a free shuttle boat every 30 minutes (:00 and :30), going to ICONSIAM and also to Sathorn Pier, where you can easily connect to public river boats.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as several 7-Eleven stores.
The room itself was clean. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the rooms are well soundproofed from each other. The hotel and rooms are not the newest, and there was a slight musty smell when entering the room for the first time.
The bathroom was very good – hot water was available almost immediately and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. In the sink, the water was rather lukewarm to slightly cold. There was also a drip coffee maker in the room. Every day, there were 4 large glass bottles of water provided – 2 near the coffee station and 2 in the bathroom.
The staff were very professional and helpful throughout our stay, with good English and quick handling of all requests.
A big highlight of the hotel is the garden pool, which is perfect for relaxing. There is also a small bistro. However, when food is being prepared, there is sometimes a strong smell of cooking oil around the pool, which can be a bit unpleasant.
There were also some flies around the pool that occasionally bothered us, though not constantly. On the other hand, we did not notice any mosquitoes at all.
Wi-Fi was excellent – very fast and stable throughout the entire hotel, including the garden and pool area.
The only minor inconvenience during our stay was with the hotel laundry service. I had a pair of jeans cleaned, and the receipt included a note stating “Versace imitation,” which was surprising since they are original Versace jeans. In case of loss or damage, this could potentially complicate a claim. On the other hand, the laundry itself was done perfectly.
Overall, we rate the hotel very positively. It’s a great place for those who want to stay by the river while still enjoying a calm and relaxing environment in Bangkok. We could easily imagine staying longer and would definitely love to return again.
