In October, I stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Bangkok Hotel twice, for a total of 7 days, to once again enjoy their excellent service. The hotel is located directly on the Chao Phraya River, opposite the ICONSIAM shopping mall. A complimentary shuttle boat is available to take guests to the mall and the BTS Saphan Taksin Skytrain station. As a Platinum member, I was kindly upgraded to a suite on a higher floor, offering a fantastic view of the river and the shopping mall—many thanks for that! My Platinum status also granted me access to the Executive Lounge, which provides complimentary refreshments throughout the day, as well as snacks and alcoholic beverages during the evening "happy hour." The restaurant on the ground floor features an outstanding breakfast buffet with a vast selection of delicious Asian and international dishes of exceptional quality. There is something for everyone to ensure a great start to the day, and the incredibly friendly staff make the experience perfect. The spread includes everything from various salads to hot dishes—such as rice, stir-fried noodles, curries, dim sum, and a wide variety of egg preparations—along with an assortment of breads, rolls, cakes, juices, and even ice cream. I can highly recommend the Saturday lunch buffet; the selection of seafood—including prawns, fish, and oysters—was truly delicious and well worth the price. The hotel also houses several other dining venues, including an Italian-style restaurant and a Thai restaurant. The rooms and suites are all very well-appointed and equipped with everything one might need. They feature stunning river views, a safe, an iron and ironing board, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, a TV, and very comfortable beds. There are two lovely swimming pools, offering plenty of sun loungers and a depth suitable for both adults and children. Additionally, the hotel boasts a well-equipped fitness center and an excellent spa. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and always helpful; their pleasant smiles make for a truly enjoyable holiday experience. The concierge is happy to assist with tasks such as booking a taxi to the airport at a fixed rate. I opted for an SUV for 750 baht—which included the highway toll—whereas a standard taxi would have cost 550 baht. I highly recommend this hotel; it was a truly wonderful stay.

“Location, location, location”

We stayed at the Royal Orchid for three nights at the very beginning of our honeymoon. The hotel facilities are great, although the restaurants are almost always empty for lunch and dinner so the vibes are a little off. The garden pool is worth the extra little walk, it’s very relaxing despite being right next to the river and all the noise. All the staff are very helpful and courteous. The rooms are very nice, even if the decor is a little dated. We had an excellent view of the river. The location is the best thing about this hotel. It’s easy to get to the main sights (Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun), plus Chinatown is very accessible by boat ride. There is a public ferry pier next to the hotel. It’s is also very easy to get to Talat Noi and the Song Wat road for shopping and street art and coffee and food. It’s about a five minute walk before you’re in Talat Noi and then maybe another 15 minutes to walk to Song Wat Road.

“Outstanding Concierge Service – Peter and Songgrod Are Simply Amazing!”

I cannot praise Peter and Songgrod from the Concierge Desk enough! Their exceptional service, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond truly deserve special recognition. I accidentally left an item in a taxi, and with absolutely no details about the taxi or driver—other than the approximate time I arrived at the hotel—Peter and Songgrod managed to do what I thought was practically impossible! They somehow traced the taxi, coordinated everything, and helped me recover my missing item. What seemed like a hopeless situation was resolved thanks to their incredible determination, resourcefulness, and genuine desire to help. This is hospitality at its absolute best! It is rare to come across people who take such personal responsibility and go to such extraordinary lengths to help a guest. A huge THANK YOU to both Peter and Songgrod! You turned a stressful experience into something I will remember with immense gratitude. You are both a tremendous asset to the hotel, and the management should be extremely proud to have you on their team. Kudos to you both! Five stars are simply not enough for the amazing service you provided!
