Beautiful hotel and grounds, geared more to families than couples.

First things first, hotel set in beautiful grounds, fronting a white sandy beach. Three swimming pools, superb customer service and staff, particularly those in the restaurant and bar. I rarely mention names but Pen stands out as a fabulous host.

First things first, hotel set in beautiful grounds, fronting a white sandy beach. Three swimming pools, superb customer service and staff, particularly those in the restaurant and bar. I rarely mention names but Pen stands out as a fabulous host.
Please be aware that if you are travelling as a couple, the hotel is geared more toward families than romantic or intimate settings.
There are no separate adult areas, and all three pools are used by children which can be noisy! As always some families are better behaved than others and this isn’t the fault of the hotel- obviously- but the hotel could do more to encourage quiet areas. For example, why not make the middle garden pool child free and place a bar there, instead of at the pool clearly designed for children.
It was unfortunate that in the bar and restaurant some guests thought it acceptable to hold loud speaker conversations on their phones, or sit their children with noisy iPads or phones. This is more a measure of some people’s ignorance, but the hotel staff should/could do more to stop this poor behaviour.
To finish on a high, the food in the restaurant was superb, not particularly expensive, nice portion sizes, fresh, authentic and very tasty.
Would I go back? Yes I would :-)
