It's been a couple months since my husband and I stayed at Rayavadee and we cannot stop remarking on how amazing our experience was....so much so that we plan to go back in 2027. Our Thailand trip in general was our favorite of all trips and we go on multiple international trips a year. Rayavadee was hands down the best part of the trip. There is something magical about the lush grounds sandwiched between the cliffs. The service is incredible, the villa/pavilions are easily our favorite set up of any hotel we've been to. The food was wonderful. We stayed for three days (before going my husband suggested two) but once there, we were wishing we had booked more time there.
I will say planning this trip had me worried about going in early July, but our weather was so lovely (apart from the storm on our last day but that just made the boat journey a little scary- we left early in the am). Because it is technically the low season, the prices were better (also recommend booking through AMEX so you can get all the FHR perks that come with it- early check in, late check out, one way airport transport, $100 credit and free breakfast, plus a room upgrade- lowest level and was moved up to Terrace Pavilion). Additionally, the resort was quiet.
We were there during construction, but that really only impacted check in and check out. The restaurant in that area was closed for renos so breakfast was at Krua Phranang, which came with gorgeous views of the beach and nearby islands. We loved the Grotto for lunch and did go to one of the sunset dinners, which was pricey but delicious. There were times were service seemed a little slow, but that is sometimes par for the course in vacation spots like this.
The pool and beach areas are great, loved the attention to service including setting up our loungers with towels and bringing over water upon arrival. The beach area near the Grotto and Krua was well shaded (my preference) and the beach traffic isn't too bad, plus you are elevated over the traffic so it helps to prevent view obstruction). The pool area is less crowded but tended to always have some kids in the pool and the long boats in the beach nearby create a constant motor sound and smell. I'm not being hypercritical- loved both spaces but these are things I noticed.
The spa was beautiful. On this trip I got a massage nearly every other day. I was hesitant to get one at the resort because it was the priciest of all the massages I had throughout the trip, but decided to do so on our last day and it was by and far the best massage I have ever received. The spa room was beautifully decorated, including the massage table where the base was a hand carved monkey. Of course that doesn't make the massage "better" but it was a lovely space. My husband signed up for the Bat cave tour and ended up being the only one, so it became a de facto private tour and he loved it- was able to get some great views/perspectives of the peninsula and nearby islands.
The flora and fauna, as well as the monkeys and monitor lizards, made exploring the property a nice adventure and the marked paths kept us from getting too sidetracked. We always chose to walk apart from when we had our luggage, but if you prefer, you can call and request a golf cart pick up, plus there were "stops" along the path for golf cart rides.
Again, our experience from beginning to end made this resort a lifetime fav for us. When we were planning and researching resort options, I noticed a few reviews where people talked about going to the resort multiple times and for rather long stays. I thought that was excessive, but now, it makes total sense to me. I still don't think I could ever stay at a resort for longer than a week, but next time we will likely stay for 5 nights.
