This was the last hotel we stayed in on our 3 week Singapore & Thailand island hopping trip, our previous hotels were the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore, Le Meridien Phuket, Anantara Koh Yao Yai, SAii Phi Phi island village, Rayavadee, Krabi & Pimalai resort in Koh Lanta, it had a lot to live up to & quite frankly it didn’t. Firstly, I will say that the staff were lovely, reception was helpful & the Craft bar was a welcome relief after the bedlam that is Patong, also the breakfast was very good. Chou Chou coffee shop was also a delight, lovely pastries & the best latte with friendly service. However, on to the not so good points, our superior room smelt musty & damp, the right side pool area also smelt slightly of sewage & the flies by the pool never left you alone, it was so bad that we left the pool area 3 hours early & waited in the lobby for our transfer to the airport. The central location of the hotel is probably the reason that everywhere smelt as it was in the midst of the action, I cannot emphasise how badly Patong smelt, whether it be the sewage or the drifting smell of weed or many other unidentifiable aromas. I’m struggling to understand the 5 star reviews that this hotel is consistently awarded, I’m at a loss for words. Let’s be honest, I think you can probably ascertain that Patong & this hotel were not my cup of tea & you’d be right, thank goodness I was only here for one night, it was more than enough.
