We enjoyed our 4-night stay at Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort, our second visit to the property. Our first visit was about eight years ago, and we remembered it having good food, service, and a relaxing atmosphere. As we were wanting to just unwind for a few days, we decided that this hotel would be worth revisiting.
We booked an ocean view king room, and as WOH Globalists, we were upgraded to a corner unit in building 13 which was conveniently located just below the new Club Lounge. As the hotel had high occupancy, we weren't able to use a suite upgrade award over our dates, but were very happy with the room they gave us. Although the bathroom was a bit dated and dark, it was very large. The bedroom area was contemporary, with a divider between the bed and living/sitting area, and a very spacious balcony with a beautiful view.
Breakfast is served in the main dining room and although was quite busy each morning, the staff recognized us and consistently seated us in a quieter area, which we appreciated. Options included Chinese, Indian, Western and Thai dishes, as well as a generous selection of fresh fruit and juices.
We did notice a few changes since our first visit. The former Club Lounge, which had an infinity pool exclusively for Club Lounge guests, has since been converted into a Latin restaurant. The new lounge is larger and located farther up the hill, offering even better views, although it no longer has a private pool. While we had been looking forward to enjoying the Club Lounge pool and did miss having one just for club guests, we really enjoyed the new lounge and its setting. The evening happy hour was very generous, with lots of food and drinks available, and everything we tried was very good. Service in the lounge was outstanding, and we especially enjoyed getting to know Nada and Floor, two interns who were working in the lounge during our stay. Both were very professional and friendly.
This is a very family-friendly resort, and given its size, it also appeared to attract larger families/groups. This was particularly noticeable around breakfast, when the dining room could get quite busy and loud. Outside of those times, however, the resort felt very tranquil.
The Hyatt is located near Kamala Beach which has a small walkable area with shops and local restaurants. The complimentary shuttle service runs throughout the day and makes getting to the beach and surrounding area very easy. Overall, we really enjoyed returning to Hyatt Regency Phuket and would happily return again.
