I recently returned from a one-night stay at the InterContinental Phuket Resort and was genuinely impressed. The property is beautiful, exceptionally well maintained, and feels much more upscale than many resorts in Phuket. The service was consistently outstanding, with staff going above and beyond throughout our stay.
Check-in was effortless, and Frankie, who I believe is part of the hotel management team, personally assisted us. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, took the time to explain the property layout, and ensured we had a great understanding of all the amenities available throughout the resort.
As an IHG One Rewards platinum elite status holder and InterContinental Ambassador member, I received a complimentary room upgrade, which was greatly appreciated. The room was modern, comfortable, exceptionally clean, and very well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the private veranda and plunge pool just outside the room.
One unique aspect of the resort is that the beach, main pool area, and many of the higher-end club and beachfront accommodations are located across the street from the main building. While it takes a few minutes to walk over, the resort offers a convenient golf cart service. A quick phone call is all it takes, and a golf cart will pick you up right near your room and transport you wherever you’d like to go on the property. Guests travel safely to the beach side through an underground tunnel beneath the road, and you may walk at your leisure or take the golf cart ride. Once there, you’re rewarded with a stunning beachfront setting, beautiful infinity pool, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. Also the cocktails at the beachside bar were refreshing, and really felt high end and had great presentation, while this does come at a premium atleast you do feel you are getting something special, and refreshing while enjoying the pool and beach area. Also, sunset is beautiful from the rooftop area on top of the beach bar, go up the stairs, and there is seating where you can enjoy a cocktail and a beautiful sunset from above.
The beach location itself is excellent, offering a much quieter and more relaxing experience than some of Phuket’s busier tourist areas. This is not a party resort. Instead, it provides a refined, upscale atmosphere that feels luxurious without being pretentious.
The food throughout the resort was excellent. We enjoyed room service during our stay, as we had an early departure the following morning for a tour to Maya Bay. Breakfast, however, was the highlight. It was among the best resort breakfasts I’ve experienced. The buffet offered an impressive selection of fresh, high-quality options, all presented beautifully and served at the appropriate temperature.
What stood out most was the overall balance of luxury, service, and value. The resort delivers a true five-star experience without feeling overly formal or stuffy. Whether you’re looking to relax on the beach, enjoy excellent dining, or use the property as a base to explore Phuket, this resort is an outstanding choice.
Unfortunately, I was only able to spend one night at the resort because I was visiting Phuket during an overnight port stop on a cruise. Rather than remain on the ship, we decided to enjoy a beachfront resort experience, and I am very glad we did. Had time allowed, I would have loved to experience the spa as well, which appeared exceptionally high-end and offered a wide variety of treatments and wellness services.
I would absolutely return to the InterContinental Phuket Resort and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering a luxury stay in Phuket. Next time, I will certainly plan for a longer visit.
