Amazing stay at Avani+ Khao Lak 🌴
🛏️ Room
I stayed in a Corner Room, which was spacious and comfortable with plenty of room to move around. The room smelled really nice, the AC was cold, and the TV was great with Chromecast for Netflix and YouTube. The bed was super comfortable too. I slept like a baby both nights! Everything was clean and well maintained, and the housekeeping team was always on top of everything.
🍽️ Food
The breakfast was especially good, with plenty of choices including healthy options if you’re looking for a more wellness focused trip. The hot meal stations change every day, which is great if you’re staying for a while. The Beach House restaurant was also excellent.
I really liked how thoughtfully the food was put together, with local ingredients and produce from Southern Thailand and stories behind many of the dishes. There are also food trucks around the resort serving pizza, burgers and finger foods, plus Mediterranean options and even Japanese food and sushi by the pool. There’s always something new to discover.
The cooking class with Chef Ian was another highlight.
🏋️♀️ Facilities & Activities
The 24-hour gym is honestly the best in Khao Lak, and for good reason, especially considering its size, equipment and array of activities. There’s a huge range of strength and cardio equipment, with top-of-the-class brands like Life Fitness and Technogym, plus a dedicated circuit training area with monkey bars and other challenging stations for a great full-body workout.
The fitness instructor, Khun Bed, was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly, which made the class really enjoyable. There’s also padel, beach yoga, spin class, Muay Thai, mini golf and plenty more. I also heard an ice bath is coming soon, which is another great addition to the already ridiculously long list of things to do here!
📚 Wellness & Little Touches
I really loved the Avani Book Club initiative. There are books thoughtfully placed around different areas of the resort that guests can take, leave or exchange. It’s such a nice way to unplug and spend some time completely offline. I also loved how naturally the bookshelves are integrated into the spaces. They don’t feel like an afterthought at all, and there are some lovely wellness books too.
🌿 Wildlife & Beach
There’s a small farm with chickens and ducks, fish feeding, and even opportunities to spot hornbills and owls. The beach is beautiful and peaceful. I visited during low season when there was quite a bit of rain, but there was still plenty to do around the resort.
❤️ Giving Back
I was particularly impressed by the resort’s partnership with Baan Tharn Namchai Foundation, a local orphanage supporting children in need. The resort has hosted pool days for the children and also sells the foundation’s merchandise in the gift shop, with the proceeds going directly towards the foundation. It’s a really meaningful initiative and lovely to see the resort giving back to the local community.
✨ Overall
Everything feels very thoughtfully planned, from the food and activities to the wellness touches and community initiatives. There’s always something to do or discover, but you can just as easily slow down and relax. Definitely worth the money, and I’d happily come back!
