Beautiful Location with Great Potential, but Service and Maintenance Need Improvement
We had a pleasant stay at Eden Beach Resort Khao Lak. The resort is beautifully located directly on the beach and offers a peaceful tropical atmosphere, a large swimming pool, a beautiful koi pond area, and spacious, comfortable accommodations. These were undoubtedly the highlights of our stay and made for a relaxing holiday. The resort has a wonderful setting and a lot of potential.
However, certain areas of the resort would benefit from renovation and modernization. Some areas could use a fresh coat of paint, rust should be removed from several fixtures, and the sun loungers and their cushions are old, worn, and should be replaced. The small tables next to the sun loungers also need attention. Many of them are unstable and wobble so much that even placing a drink on them can be difficult, as the slightest touch may cause it to tip over. They are made of woven material that has become worn over time and would benefit from being replaced. We also noticed algae in parts of the swimming pool, suggesting that maintenance could be improved.
The pool area could also benefit from more attentive service. It would have been nice if staff regularly checked on guests relaxing by the pool, and used plates, glasses, and other tableware should be cleared away more promptly instead of being left for long periods.
Our biggest disappointment, however, was the overall service level. While many staff members were friendly and helpful, a noticeable number appeared tired, unmotivated, and lacked the warm hospitality that Thailand is so well known for. Even when some staff members smiled, it often felt forced rather than genuine. A more natural, welcoming, and engaged approach from some members of the team would make a significant difference to the overall guest experience.
That said, we would like to give special recognition to the housekeeping team. They were consistently smiling, friendly, professional, and genuinely service-minded throughout our stay. We also received excellent service at The Deli Café, where the staff were welcoming, attentive, and always made us feel appreciated. These teams demonstrated the level of hospitality we had hoped to experience throughout the resort.
Overall, Eden Beach Resort has excellent potential thanks to its fantastic location, beautiful surroundings, and spacious accommodations. However, because of the inconsistent service experience and the need for improvements to maintenance and some facilities, we can only give it 3 out of 5 stars. We sincerely hope the management addresses these areas, as the resort has all the ingredients to become truly outstanding.
