Me and my family (3 generations now all adults ageed between 24 to 68) have just returned from an amazing 10 nights stay at the Waters Hotel in the Bang Niang area of Khao Lak.
We stayed between the 11th to 23rd April and can honestly say the hotel was amazing. We stayed in a ground floor pool access room (swim up room number 1761). Everything about the room was great, it was large and modern with a huge very comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, ironing board and iron, fridge and plenty of universal plug sockets (no adapters needed). The bathroom was also large with a walk in shower, hairdryer that actually dried your hair and rooms were cleaned daily if wanted with fresh shower and pool towels provided. Bottled water was also provided daily.
You had large sliding doors out on to the terrace area which consisted of a shaded area, 2 sunbeds and a large round day bed, a lower terrace which had a few inches of water where you could move your sunbeds to as it was in full sun for most of the day and then steps directly in to the large shared pool which was amazing. We were just down from the splash swim up bar which served delicious food and drink. The cocktails were all freshly made and were really nice. I must give a mention to Sia and Atlas who provided exceptional service everyday and worked so hard, as did all the staff here.
Breakfast was fab with everything you could want, I especially liked the pancake machine which delivered fresh pancakes on demand 😋 and the freshly made omelets.
The hotel location was fantastic, multiple shops, bars and restaurants right on your doorstep and the night market was a 5 minute walk which we loved. Although the hotel is not located directly on the beach it is a max 5 min walk and the hotel entrance is level with the end of the La Flora hotel which is advertised as beach fronted, however if you are giving a room at the back of the La Flora you will be no closer to the beach than if you stay at the Waters.
The staff at The Hotel could not do enough for you and we're so friendly and welcoming and I really can't think of any negatives.
Khao Lak itself is wonderful, so laid back and strikes a perfect balance between having plenty going on to entertain you without being rowdy. You can eat at a different restaurant every night and not have a bad meal. The food on the night market was also delicious and with so much choice as well as 60 THB Mojito's which were delicious 😋.
I woluld highly recommend the following bars and restaurants
Siam restaurant
Little Marghe restaurant
Mali restaurant
Cat Cat restaurant on night market
Toilet bar on night market
Be Bob bar
Lan la bar
Bamboo bar
Moose bar (for sports)
We booked 2 trips as well as our Airport transfers with Rung Ontour Khaolak, one personalised tour which included bamboo rafting, a visit to Lampi waterfall, a visit to a local temple and the full experience at the elephant sanctuary and then a day trip to the Samilan Island's by catamaran. Both trips were amazing and Rung ontour made everything do easy. The communication was fantastic and the trips were so reasonable priced, I would highly recommend using them.
We loved every minute of our stay in Khao Lak and The Waters and will definitely be returning.
